Father/Daughter Dance

Tonight my DH took my 5 yr old DD on one of the bestest Daddy Dates! They went to the Father/Daughter Dance put on by DD’s school PTA. Each girl is sent a special hand made invitation to dinner and dancing with her Daddy. My hubby is a shy, reserved Man so for him to take her to this- where he doesn’t know many of the other dads is a BIG deal! He also wears a suit for this auspicious occasion (which he only does for REAL special occasions!) My DD dressed up in one of her favorite ‘fancy’ dresses and we did her hair up special with shiny pink heart jewels woven in. I even allowed her to use the sparkle powder she got as a gift from a friend. Her older sister shared her perfume and special black velvet shoes (with rhinestone clips) and I loaned her a special sparkly necklace that I wore in my brother’s wedding. It’s one of the occasions where you just sit back and look at your daughter- really look at her. I pray that she will always look at her Daddy with such adoration. It was so special to see him slip that corsage on her little wrist; knowing I had made it myself and that these were the first flowers she had ever received from a boy- well that really made the moment. [Girls should always get there ‘first’ flowers from their Daddies!]

Doing the Daddy date thing is important to us. It lets our daughters know they are valued and special in their own right and also shows them how a ‘real man’ treats a lady. I desire for my daughters futures- Godly men of integrity that know ‘how to treat a lady’. As they get older I hope that their Daddy dating conversation will mature and deepen- right now they talk about this and that and Daddy makes sure that he tells different little things he loves about them, how he notices them growing and maturing and he comments on their relationship with God and his hopes for them. In the future, I hope he can also share the kind of man he hopes for them.

My oldest DD commented that this is something she will miss when we homeschool next year and asked if our homeschool group would do it. I told her it was something to look into, otherwise IÂ’m sure they could go out with Daddy and Grampa somewhere special too. I donÂ’t think itÂ’s so much where you go as who you are with!

My Husband (DH)-
Mr. Steady

My rock and biggest supporter. The glue that keeps the family sane. He is like deep, deep water- it takes a lot to see a ripple.

DD12- Our Maiden in Waiting- By the world's standard she's a 'tween'. By ours and the Lord's- this is the time of her years of preparation. She is eagerly learning what it means to keep a home and daily becomes more and more of a helper to her Mama.

DD9- Sassafras My Sassy middle child. She holds her own so sweetly and has such an empathetic heart. While real Sassafras is used for flavoring- She is that added sweet flavor to our family.

DS5- Mr. Conductor- The train aficionado in the family. He's the little man and best helper around! He's also the biggest Oreo fiend in the family.
