My "Homestead" Project

I just have to share my latest successful homestead project- it’s not exactly the norm but I did make it myself and I did use things I had at home and I did save money! My completely wonderful DH is taking my middle child, DD Madalyn, to the Father/Daughter Dance put on by her school PTA tonight. I was going to order the corsage and boutonniere from our local florist and then I thought to myself “I bet I could make them!” I had the corsage “bracelet” and pins from when I ordered the flowers for my oldest DD’s Father/Daughter dances; I always have florist tape and florist wire on hand, the ribbon was from my ribbon box and scrapbooking supplies and the flowers were from a bouquet I bought earlier in the week for myself (spent $8 on the bouquet at the supermarket); the ivy branches came from my plant in my kitchen; the little loops of pearls were purchased for 77 cents @ the store- the one thing I bought for the project. So I figure I used about 25 cents worth of ribbon and 5 loops of pearls (12 in package) is 30 cents, maybe $1 worth of flowers from my gorgeous bouquet and I’m not counting the wire and tape as I’ve had it for over 12 years. So I just made a corsage and boutonniere both for around $1.55! Wow! If I had purchased these @ the florist’s it would have been well over $20! I saved money and have the satisfaction of knowing I made them!

The only thing better would have been if the flowers had been from my own garden! [Kind of hard in the middle of winter though!]
