Home Sweet Simple Home

Good Morning.
It is a very cold and rainy morning. One of those seep into the bones type of cold rains. We are enjoying the gentle sound on the metal roof but I took the chance and bumped up the heat a couple of degrees and wrapped a toasty blanket around Mr. Conductor.
He woke this morning with a snotty cough. No fever but the coughing fits lead to crying. He actually asked for breakfast (he's not a big breakfast eater) and after plowing thru one bowl of cereal he asked for another- half way thru that bowl he coughed and threw up which scared him very badly.
I am so glad the Lord gives us Mamas that special soothing voice and calm demeanor even when inside our heart is racing and hurting so badly for our child.
Mr. Conductor seems to be doing fine now. He's on the couch tucked in warm fleece blankets, with cool water in a special cup and watching Toonerville Trolley on TV. He also has an empty ice cream bucket on the floor next to him- just in case.
Good news is I was going to wash a load of darks this morning anyway. So I am thankful that he  threw up before I started the load. Thank you Lord!
I wonder if sometimes the Lord allows our children to get a bit sick to draw our attention and focus back where it needs to be and also allow us that special pampering time with that child that we try not to give out just any ol' day. You know the special straw and cup and plate and ginger ale, more snuggles and stories. Even as a sahm my time is very much in demand and this just seems like the opportunity to slow down and take some extra time loving and nurturing my little guy.
As for the girls they are doing school in various locations as to not be tempted by the video on TV. They are being lovely and quiet in deference to their little brother. So I am doing a bit more stopping and checking since we aren't all in the same room together but it seems to be working for us today as they are further along in their studies than I had expected.
Perhaps it is also because their Nana (my Mom) has said that if they behave and are diligent in their schooling this week she will take them to see Happy Feet the movie on Monday. Don't you just love Nanas!?!

I'm sorry to hear your little guy is not feeling well! I pray that he feels better soon!

My Husband (DH)-
Mr. Steady

My rock and biggest supporter. The glue that keeps the family sane. He is like deep, deep water- it takes a lot to see a ripple.

DD11- Our Maiden in Waiting- By the world's standard she's a 'tween'. By ours and the Lord's- this is the time of her years of preparation. She is eagerly learning what it means to keep a home and daily becomes more and more of a helper to her Mama.

DD8- Sassafras My Sassy middle child. She holds her own so sweetly and has such an empathetic heart. While real Sassafras is used for flavoring- She is that added spice of flavor to our family.

DS4- Mr. Conductor- The train aficionado in the family. He likes to think he's in charge and often is! He's also the biggest Oreo fiend in the family.
