My Perfect Pantry

Saw this on KayÂ’s blog who got the idea from someone else. What our idea of the perfect pantry was.

I am blessed with a wonderful (albeit small) walk-in pantry full with many shelves and even a built-in hutch. But now let me think on the “perfect pantry” as mine is less than perfect! First- I’d like it to be bigger- say 8x8 at least with room for our upright freezer and floor to ceiling shelves (with one of those cool “library ladders” that you push along a runner). The shelves would be different widths to accommodate bulk sizes and smaller sizes. It would be soooo organized- baking, spices, canned goods, large appliances (mixer, bread machine etc), cooking utensils, etc. all set up by “categories”. In the middle would be a kitchen island with butcher block top and complete with electrical hook up so that we would have extra space to plug in the bread machine and crockpot (instead of taking up my kitchen counters). There would be shelves for the good dishes, silverware and storage for cloth napkins, table clothes et al (like a butler’s pantry). It would have a window to bring in just enough light. And a large rack hanging from the ceiling for my bunches of dried herbs. The shelves and freezer would be stocked full with healthy foods and I would only need to go grocery shopping once a month. On the back of the door would be pretty hooks for mine and my dds aprons.

I really can just picture it all in my mind- a beautiful scarred pine plank floor, wooden shelves and the smell of spices  . . . . .
