Crockpots- food and gunk

I made the overnight crockpot oatmeal [from Minifarmmania6] and it was a success! Everyone loved it- my DH even ate it cold for a snack in the afternoon! One thing I need to remind myself of- make sure I REALLY grease the crockpot. I didn’t grease it nearly enough and now I’ve been soaking it for a whole day trying to get the last ‘gunk’ out. Anyone have any ideas on how to really clean up a crockpot? I hate having to soak and clean out my crockpot- especially when I want to use it again right away . . . . so today I broke down and bought the crockpot liners while grocery shopping. It does seem frivolous ($1.67 for 4 liners) but when you consider that I have to pay for water here in town and the fact that my own sanity is priceless . . . . well, my Gram would still see it as a waste of money when I’ve been gifted with 2 good hands to scrub it with (just a bit of elbow grease, Sweetie!) I have beef stroganoff going in the crockpot right now- so we’ll see how it all turns out with that throw-away liner. My In-laws are coming over for supper. We’re having beef stroganoff, mixed greens salad, homemade potato bread, dill pickles (DH and kiddos are on a pickle binge!) and I still need to come up with a dessert off the cuff- my father-in-law is diabetic and I’d like to try to make him something different (yet easy) for dessert besides sugar-free Jell-O salad or homemade applesauce. Anyone got any easy diabetic dessert ideas? Leave a Comment { Last Page } { Page 1546 of 1617 } { Next Page } |
