Home Sweet Simple Home

What Works for Me

Today’s Works for Me Wednesday tip from the Wagner Homestead is to use lonely only socks and slivers of soap.
I just love homemade goat’s milk soap and splurge on it whenever possible. With that said, I do not like to waste the tiniest slivers. So here is a quick and easy solution:
I save the slivers until I’ve collected a good “chunk”. I slip the soap chunk into a clean lonely only sock and knot it. We then place it on the soap dish. I instruct the family to wet their hands first then rub the soap sock vigorously between their wet hands. When we’re done we unknot the sock and toss it in the wash to be used again.
Please note: I use a chunk just a bit bigger than the size of a quarter- enough for just a couple of days. If hands are really dirty (as in mud caked) we use the regular soap. The sock is for quick and not too dirty clean ups.

I knitted a soapsack as a gift awhile back! I'm not sure how many of these little slivers I have wasted but I woudn't want to think about it ...especially when you spend more for nicer soap!

I never thought of using a sock! That's a great tip!

Thanks!

The Wagner Clan

My Husband (DH)-
Mr. Steady

My rock and biggest supporter. The glue that keeps the family sane. He is like deep, deep water- it takes a lot to see a ripple.

DD11- Our Maiden in Waiting- By the world's standard she's a 'tween'. By ours and the Lord's- this is the time of her years of preparation. She is eagerly learning what it means to keep a home and daily becomes more and more of a helper to her Mama.

DD8- Sassafras My Sassy middle child. She holds her own so sweetly and has such an empathetic heart. While real Sassafras is used for flavoring- She is that added spice of flavor to our family.

DS4- Mr. Conductor- The train aficionado in the family. He likes to think he's in charge and often is! He's also the biggest Oreo fiend in the family.
