Church Gossip
Mildred, the church gossip, and self-appointed monitor of the church's morals, kept sticking her nose into other people's business. Several members did not approve of her extra curricular activities, but feared her enough to maintain their silence. She made a mistake, however, when she accused Henry, a new member, of being an alcoholic after she saw his old pickup parked in front of the town's only bar one afternoon. She emphatically told Henry and several others that everyone seeing it there would know what he was doing. Henry, a man of few words, stared at her for a moment and just turned and walked away. He didn't explain, defend, or deny. He said nothing. Later that evening, Henry quietly parked his pickup in front of Mildred's house...walked home....
and left it there all night.
Hmm. I've seen this email circulating before but thought to share it as I think we can all see a bit of ourselves at some point. What would we think if we saw one of our church family coming out of a bar? We may not share the information as Mildred did in the story but would we change how we treat this person? Would we judge and then act differently? Or would we be reminded that "all sin and fall short of the glory of God" and uphold this person in prayer? After all, we do not know their reasoning? I try to remind myself of saying "Christians aren't perfect, just forgiven." So I am trying hard to go to the Lord FIRST in prayer when others (as well as my own) walks do not measure up to what I think. Though I work hard to not spread gossip- I believe I must work harder not to listen to others do so.
A lesson learned.

My Husband (DH)-Mr. Steady
My rock and biggest supporter. The glue that keeps the family sane. He is like deep, deep water- it takes a lot to see a ripple.
DD12- Our Maiden in Waiting- By the world's standard she's a 'tween'. By ours and the Lord's- this is the time of her years of preparation. She is eagerly learning what it means to keep a home and daily becomes more and more of a helper to her Mama.
DD9- Sassafras My Sassy middle child. She holds her own so sweetly and has such an empathetic heart. While real Sassafras is used for flavoring- She is that added sweet flavor to our family.
DS5- Mr. Conductor- The train aficionado in the family. He's the little man and best helper around! He's also the biggest Oreo fiend in the family.
