Home Sweet Simple Home

Just a few more

Here's a couple more photos I just couldn't resist sharing from our trip.
Here we are riding in a Model T (DD6 rode in a separate car with my parents). This was so very special to all of us because my grandfather- my Dad's dad, owned a Model T (until it had to be sold a few years before his death due to farm debt) and when I was a young girl I use to beg him to take it out for a drive. Oh, I can almost smell that wonderful old car. I missed out on my dream of riding away in that car on my wedding day but this was awfully special to me and to my Daddy.

At the end of the day when we had seen as much as we could- our final stop was Firestone Farm. After spending time there watching the ladies make ketchup and decorate for fall, watching one of the men milk the family cow and then helping out the family by pumping water into the cool house . . . . it was time to leave.
I couldn't resist snapping this shot of my girls walking down the dirt lane ahead of me. DD9 has her hobo sack- each kiddo ordered a hobo lunch (and it came in the hobo sack complete w/ stick- how cool is that!?!) and then stored some of their treasures in it later in the day.

In case you can't tell- DD6 is skipping down the lane!
And here we are at the very end, after a trip to the gift shop where DS2 found the perfect hat to complete his outfit and his day!
Here is our own little Train Conductor waving Good-bye!

My Husband (DH)-
Mr. Steady

My rock and biggest supporter. The glue that keeps the family sane. He is like deep, deep water- it takes a lot to see a ripple.

DD12- Our Maiden in Waiting- By the world's standard she's a 'tween'. By ours and the Lord's- this is the time of her years of preparation. She is eagerly learning what it means to keep a home and daily becomes more and more of a helper to her Mama.

DD9- Sassafras My Sassy middle child. She holds her own so sweetly and has such an empathetic heart. While real Sassafras is used for flavoring- She is that added sweet flavor to our family.

DS5- Mr. Conductor- The train aficionado in the family. He's the little man and best helper around! He's also the biggest Oreo fiend in the family.
