Home Sweet Simple Home

life and such this week

Well last week's topsy-turvy-ness messed with my menu plan too! In a good way though! I still had my pantry week (even with providing a meal to another family) but there were also 3 different meals I didn't need to provide as my mom cooked for my crew Wed. thru Friday. So I have rearranged our menu plan for this week to use a couple of those "unused" meals.
We are also planning a bit of a vacation, a mini-vacation, if you will, the end of this week. So I won't be cooking then either! We'll be leaving on Thursday for an overnite hotel stay and then a tour of Greenfield Village and coming home Friday evening. Can you say "Field Trip"? Oh, I am just so excited and my girls are literally counting down the days. My parents will be coming along with us and we are grateful for their help and interaction-  takes a bit of the burden off ole' Dad and me.
The other change in my menu plan is that this is National Pastor Appreciation Month and well, my church wants to appreciate me as their youth pastor by providing at least one of our family meals per week for the month of October. Don't that just beat all?
I am thinking that the key here is for me not to fill up this found "free time" with inconsequential stuff but to make the best use of it and spend it with my family.
So that's a long winded way of telling ya'll that my menu plan for the week looks a "bit different".

Enjoy!

My Husband (DH)-
Mr. Steady

My rock and biggest supporter. The glue that keeps the family sane. He is like deep, deep water- it takes a lot to see a ripple.

DD11- Our Maiden in Waiting- By the world's standard she's a 'tween'. By ours and the Lord's- this is the time of her years of preparation. She is eagerly learning what it means to keep a home and daily becomes more and more of a helper to her Mama.

DD8- Sassafras My Sassy middle child. She holds her own so sweetly and has such an empathetic heart. While real Sassafras is used for flavoring- She is that added spice of flavor to our family.

DS4- Mr. Conductor- The train aficionado in the family. He likes to think he's in charge and often is! He's also the biggest Oreo fiend in the family.
