Love for All Seasons

Peggy @ A Pioneer Spirit posted asking us to comment about our favorite season and why. I found I enjoyed posting a comment so much that I wanted to re-post it here. Check out A Pioneer Spirit and leave your own comments too!

I find that I fluctuate with the seasons. I love each season for different reasons. In winter I love to burrow in, do housework and snuggle up with a quilt and a good book. I love the look of clean snow and barren landscapes- it's that quiet dormant sleepy time before the renewal. In spring, I love to be outside working in the yard and garden and take my devotions out to the porch swing. I also take the time to sweep the “winter cobwebs” out of my home and bring in the fresh spring air. I love taking walks and checking all the new growth. I love the pastel colors- especially that soft dreamy green that Spring brings out in nature. In summer I am once again productive in the cooler morning hours (but outside instead of in) and lazy by mid-afternoon then kick it up again in the evenings. In fall I just get sooo excited about all the changes and cooling weather that I go crazy (I don’t exactly spring clean as much as I fall clean). This is peak harvest & gathering time as well as garden and lawn clean up and getting the house ready for the colder days ahead. I love bonfires on balmy fall evenings with hotdogs and smores. I love each season for it’s specialness but often find myself anxious for the next season about midway thru the one I’m in! Like right now with seed catalogs and flowers on my mind I am anxious for spring (the 50 degree temperatures here probably didn’t help me!).

I really like spring because it starts to get warm and you can get out in the sunshine and start you garden. I like summer because of swimming, camping and just the warmth (sometimes) hot weather. I love fall..my birthday, the color of the trees, bringing in the harvest. But I really dont like winter. The snow is pretty but I dont like the gray skies and the cold.

One Season:(

I love all seasons in their own specail way too, but in Tallahassee, there's only one season.....HUMID season. In New York I'd pick fall, in Missouri I'd pick winter, in Texas I'd pick summer and spring is pretty anywhere...even here it's not so bad. I pray in NC I'll be able to experience all seasons...IF it's God's will for us to move there.

My overall favorite is fall...I LOVE the weather, the changing of leaves and everything else you can think of.

My Husband (DH)-
Mr. Steady

My rock and biggest supporter. The glue that keeps the family sane. He is like deep, deep water- it takes a lot to see a ripple.

DD11- Our Maiden in Waiting- By the world's standard she's a 'tween'. By ours and the Lord's- this is the time of her years of preparation. She is eagerly learning what it means to keep a home and daily becomes more and more of a helper to her Mama.

DD8- Sassafras My Sassy middle child. She holds her own so sweetly and has such an empathetic heart. While real Sassafras is used for flavoring- She is that added spice of flavor to our family.

DS4- Mr. Conductor- The train aficionado in the family. He likes to think he's in charge and often is! He's also the biggest Oreo fiend in the family.
