Home Sweet Simple Home

The nite was better than Day

The nap did wonders for my disposition! As did hubby taking us all out for supper to celebrate our first week of homeschooling.
Ah, that man is a treasure!
Oh, and by the way- they had chocolate pudding and ice cream and ice cream toppings at the restaurant. [insert contented sigh here.]
We then went home and put on our jammies and all curled up together and watched our new Andy Griffith Show DVD. Oh did we laugh. I had forgotten just how wonderful this TV show really was.
In fact, we even imparted some wisdom on our children from one show- "The Bike Bandit". The episode revolved around a little boy telling Opie he didn't need to work for an allowance- "cuz' an allowance is something kids are allowed to have just for being kids." And then the kid proceeded to share with Opie how to fake cry and throw temper tantrums to get his way. Of course, Opie tried it and it didn't work and then to make a long story short the kiddo's bike got impounded and the kid brought his dad to the jail and was so mad he offered for his Dad to go to jail if he could get his bike and threw a big ol' tantrum. The Dad finally realized that he was giving in way too much and Opie got his eyes opened to how wrong tantrums are.
Well my kiddos really enjoyed the episode- laughing and carrying on. Their Daddy asked what they thought of the tantrums and they said how silly the kids looked and how wrong it was. It opened up a whole conversation about working for pay and serving our family with a dose of gentle reminder that they also look silly when they throw tantrums. Daddy shared how that Daddy wasn't doing his job and how its his job to train, mold and discipline.
The girls really listened and I believe they learned a bit.
DS2 threw a tantrum not to long after and was put to bed.
Sigh.
You can't win every battle. But God has, is and will provide for us.
Oh, and I did sleep in this morning. Wonderful! Cuddled up right next to my hubby and just enjoyed the silence and peace.
Then I had raspberry coffee cake and a cup of chocolate cherry coffee for breakfast  that I didn't have to cook.
God is good!

My Husband (DH)-
Mr. Steady

My rock and biggest supporter. The glue that keeps the family sane. He is like deep, deep water- it takes a lot to see a ripple.

DD11- Our Maiden in Waiting- By the world's standard she's a 'tween'. By ours and the Lord's- this is the time of her years of preparation. She is eagerly learning what it means to keep a home and daily becomes more and more of a helper to her Mama.

DD8- Sassafras My Sassy middle child. She holds her own so sweetly and has such an empathetic heart. While real Sassafras is used for flavoring- She is that added spice of flavor to our family.

DS4- Mr. Conductor- The train aficionado in the family. He likes to think he's in charge and often is! He's also the biggest Oreo fiend in the family.
