Home Sweet Simple Home

I Came Home

Ah, it's great to be back and checking in. I haven't gotten very far yet and I think it may take a couple of days to catch up.
The Women of Faith Conference I attended was wonderful- uplifting and powerful. I enjoyed all the speakers and my heart was touched again and again.
I hope to be sharing some of what I learned here in the next couple of days.
I just have to share what a wonderful, totally terrific thing my family did for me . . . .
Thursday nite was a rough nite here- we'd had plans for a wonderful family nite and then things just went downhill. I do not like having discipline issues when I am leaving for 2 days and Daddy is gonna be home alone with the wreaking crew. It was not the wonderful evening my husband and I had envisioned and well, Mama went a bit off the deep end. Let's just say "It wasn't pretty." I managed to leave early Friday morning on a good note but I am sure my family was as glad for my time away as I was. Have you heard the saying "familiarity leads to contempt"? Yep, I think that's where we were.
Well, I told them I would call when I was on my way home to give them enough time to do a bit of pick up and cleaning. I asked that the house be at least as clean and picked up as I was leaving it. [I asked this for obvious reasons- as everything usually looks like a tornado hit when I come home and I am never happy about that.]
Imagine me with very wide, bugged-out eyes and my jaw hanging to my knees . . . . that's the look I had when I came home and saw everything not just the way I left it but oh, so much better! They cleaned and cleaned and cleaned, laundry was done and folded (yeah, it was only 1 load but still), the kitchen floor was cleaner than it's been in many, many, many months the bathrooms were spic-n-span from top to the very bottom- no toothpaste splatters anywhere! My side of the bed was turned down and the kids met me with hugs at the door. Mama was completely speechless (and also completely exhausted). They shared their weekend with me and whisked my suitcase upstairs for me.
After hugs and kisses I was instructed to go right to bed and rest. Oh, saints above! When I was just drifting off my DS2 came up and announced he wanted to go to bed. Feeling a need for my family- I asked him to come snuggle with me. He complied- *reading* me one of his Thomas stories before praying and then just chatting at me in the dark. Oh, what a wonderful stress-free homecoming. One I so desparately needed. God is so good and He knew just what I needed.
In fact, my mellow mood has continued to today and I am working to keep it!
Now I just gotta say "Aren't they just the most darling bunch of rugrats?!"

My Husband (DH)-
Mr. Steady

My rock and biggest supporter. The glue that keeps the family sane. He is like deep, deep water- it takes a lot to see a ripple.

DD12- Our Maiden in Waiting- By the world's standard she's a 'tween'. By ours and the Lord's- this is the time of her years of preparation. She is eagerly learning what it means to keep a home and daily becomes more and more of a helper to her Mama.

DD9- Sassafras My Sassy middle child. She holds her own so sweetly and has such an empathetic heart. While real Sassafras is used for flavoring- She is that added sweet flavor to our family.

DS5- Mr. Conductor- The train aficionado in the family. He's the little man and best helper around! He's also the biggest Oreo fiend in the family.
