Bloggity Tour of My Home
Welcome! Come one, come all to our humble homestead. I'll greet you at the front door.
If you are a regular reader here you will remember that we just recently replaced the glass in the front door- thanks to DS2 and one of the umbrellas from the umbrella stand you see to the bottom left. At the top of the door is one of my favorite things- it was given to me by my Mama when we moved into this home. As long as I can remember that sign has hung over the doorways of every home we lived in. Mama knew I cherished it and passed it on to me. Now I carry on the tradition. [Note the grime @ the bottom of the door- with this sticky weather we have to turn the knob and kick the door in order to have enough force to open it!] Come on in and sit awhile in the living room with me
This is the main hang-out spot here. This is clean! It only looks this way because I’m the first one up this morning and DS2 hasn’t spread his trains and Legos everywhere. Notice what looks like a white blobby line obscuring the left side of the photo? We have beautiful 10 foot high Victorian columns with ledges that separate our living and dining rooms. One thing I would like to point out that is abnormal for my living room is the ugly little antenna on top of my entertainment center- ugh, I really dislike that thing. [A wind storm knocked down and broke our outdoor antenna a couple of months ago- we haven’t been watching TV since its summer hence we haven’t been reminded to fix it.] I almost took it off as to not show ya’ll that hideous thing but I am a bit unsure as to how to reconnect it and didn’t want to have to explain to my Hubby why I was taking it off in the first place! Notice also the lovely clunky air conditioner in the one window (the corner where DS2 has all his toys), our home is 150+ years old and does not have central air. We are surviving! [Oh and by the way- no curtains because I haven’t found anything I like . . . . . we won’t mention that we’ve lived here for 12 years. Oops. Well, I usually tell people it’s because I’m into the minimalist simplistic look. Really.] Ah, how about a snack? Come on in the kitchen with me while I put something together for us.
The hub of my home where all the goodies come from. It’s hard to get a picture that encompasses the whole room, as it’s 14 x14 ft. with 3 doorways in one corner. You can notice however that I have huge upper cabinets (10 foot ceiling) which require me to use a little step ladder- but since I am too lazy to go dig the thing out I just pull myself up onto the counter and stand on the counter . . . . I’m sure that comes off as a bit hillbilly-ish. Let’s have some cookies! My cookie jar was one of my Everyday Things a few weeks back. It sits to the right of the sink. The mismatched chair? Well, I only planned 2 kids and I have 4 matching chairs . . . . . it’s on my list . . . . . Where’s the fridge and stove? To the right just out of the picture. And there is no dishwasher here except for Mama and the 9 yr old. And let’s not talk about the flooring . . . . that’s on my remodel list too. Grab your snack and let’s go out on my porch swing.
It’s one of my most favoritest spots- especially when I close the front door and effectively cut off the screaming going on in the house. Ah, that’s better. This is where I have that first cup of the morning and do my devotions. Quite nice isn’t it. Sometimes I do have a couple of pillows out here on the swing but the kids confiscated them and I haven’t tracked ‘em down yet.
Yep, this is where the magic happens. You can even see my blog up on the screen. He he he. And you may have noticed that I've given you a close up shot of my desk- I am not about to show you my whole office- I do have some pride left and somethings should remain hidden. I am after all, a youth pastor, and youth pastors are known far and wide as lovers of chaos. I thought about removing all the piles of paper and making my bulletin board a bit neater but then a thought to myself that it wouldn't be a true representation! So here it is in all it's glory! Thru the window I can see my darlings playing in the backyard. This is my muti-task platform- where I blog and do youth work and mother all at the same time! [Okay- sometimes not very effectively though]. Leave a Comment { Last Page } { Page 1087 of 1491 } { Next Page } |
