Writers Block

1:39 PM, 2006-Jul-5 .. Posted in Family Life .. 2 comments .. Link

I am experiencing a big ol' huge-mungous case of writer's block. Not blogging block [obviously] but writer' block. I am suppose to be writing my annual youth pastor's report to the church. It's due today.
I have about a 1/2 page of drivel.
I have writer's block.

I have only experienced writer's block twice in my life- well, ahem, can't add- this makes three times. How did I overcome it before . . . . .hmmm. I think total mental block comes right after because- honestly, truthfully, I don't rightly recall how I got out of it.
I know it seems like a "piece of cake"- you need to write a report detailing the last 12 months. Yeah. I am never one to just be "average" and my reports are always pithy and witty and filled with relevant scripture references. [Well, *I* think so!!]
I have nothing. I don't feel witty or pithy and am dwelling in the Land of Way Less Than Average. At this point, with my deadline looming, I may have to "settle" for average which would just be a month by month breakdown of what "we did". Which wouldn't help me in the case of trying to help the church understand that the youth group does more than guzzle pop, eat oodles of pizza, and "mess up" church property (for the record- I've got a great group of kids-- the janitor says we clean up great- better than the Seniors even!).
My brain feels like the left-over oatmeal in the bottom of the pot that has sat there all morning and won't come un-stuck and I think it's beginning to smell funny. Yep, that's a good analogy.
Maybe I'll just take a break- read some blogs and let the oatmeal just sit there a bit longer.

Your parade picture was lovely. I looked up your town in my atlas. You're not far from my brother's family. They live in Portage. They attend a huge church called Calvary Bible Church in Kalamazoo. My brother and sister-in-law love Michigan and don't ever want to return to the dry West. May God flood your mind with creativity, so your report paints a portrait of young people who are growing in the Lord...........Denise

Ahhhh, been there...

Had to write a PR article for work about a month ago, could not for the life of me get it started, needed it complete for submission by 5PM Friday ~ 3:30 Friday afternoon I sat down, started writing like you did in your blog ~ about how I could write a staory about blah blah blah ~ and the story came. Yep, walking away and coming back should "free up" the channels

My Husband (DH)-
Mr. Steady

My rock and biggest supporter. The glue that keeps the family sane. He is like deep, deep water- it takes a lot to see a ripple.

DD11- Our Maiden in Waiting- By the world's standard she's a 'tween'. By ours and the Lord's- this is the time of her years of preparation. She is eagerly learning what it means to keep a home and daily becomes more and more of a helper to her Mama.

DD8- Sassafras My Sassy middle child. She holds her own so sweetly and has such an empathetic heart. While real Sassafras is used for flavoring- She is that added spice of flavor to our family.

DS4- Mr. Conductor- The train aficionado in the family. He likes to think he's in charge and often is! He's also the biggest Oreo fiend in the family.
