My Weekend

11:25 AM, 2006-Jan-16 .. 0 comments .. Link

Well, I was only gone from here for a weekend but it seems like it was so much longer. I’ve spent some time reading up on tons of posts I missed over the weekend and adding my 2-cent comments. I’ll skip the nerd test though as I’m pretty sure I’m an “average” nerd (if there is such a thing! Lol).

We enjoyed a very busy weekend. Friday nite I was able to be a part of “girl’s night out” through my MOPS group. We had a craft night- I brought my scrapbooking that I haven’t worked on in many many months. On Saturday morning I met my sister for a special “Sister Breakfast”—we went to a wonderful little bakery/restaurant run by a local Mennonite family. I ordered the “Farmer’s Wife” breakfast- egg casserole, biscuits and gravy, homemade sausage, large cinnamon roll and a bowl of fruit. Oh, I didn’t finish it all- where’s the fun in that! One of the benefits of dining-out is bringing home leftovers (it’s like eating out twice for one low price. Lol) Even better my breakfast only cost $5.50 with coffee. And the conversation with my sister was, of course, priceless.

Saturday continued to be a busy family day with my brother-in-lawÂ’s surprise 50th birthday party. It was a LARGE family gathering (my husband is one of 9 children who are all married & have kiddos- so his immediate family is 38 members strong & growing!) We had a great time visiting and playing with our family. God is so good.

Sunday- I got a nap! Wa-hoo! I love snuggling up under a warm quilt with a good book and the sun shining down on you and then just softly, quietly drifting off to sleep.

We did have a bit of a scare on Sunday morning. My mom went out to burn trash, tripped and fell. My dad thought he was going to have to take her to the ER but she refused. Her ankle is swollen but not terribly so and she was able to put weight on it. It is hard to get her to stay off her feet- there is always something that needs to be done! She stayed home from church and when we stopped to check on her later she had dinner going! The bruising still hadnÂ’t come up yet as of last night- is that a good sign? She seemed to think so.

Looking back, I guess I had a pretty eventful weekend! I enjoyed spending the time with family but also carving out time to spend with my little family here at home.

My Husband (DH)-
Mr. Steady

My rock and biggest supporter. The glue that keeps the family sane. He is like deep, deep water- it takes a lot to see a ripple.

DD11- Our Maiden in Waiting- By the world's standard she's a 'tween'. By ours and the Lord's- this is the time of her years of preparation. She is eagerly learning what it means to keep a home and daily becomes more and more of a helper to her Mama.

DD8- Sassafras My Sassy middle child. She holds her own so sweetly and has such an empathetic heart. While real Sassafras is used for flavoring- She is that added spice of flavor to our family.

DS4- Mr. Conductor- The train aficionado in the family. He likes to think he's in charge and often is! He's also the biggest Oreo fiend in the family.
