Hinds Feet on High Places

Living in perilous times

Do you like Harry Potter?

Here is something you may want to consider...go to the links I have inserted, and read for yourself. A former witch and occultist is condemning them (along with  some other recent hits such as The Da Vinci Code and Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ) as real witchcraft, insideously twisting the hearts and minds of millions who view them as harmless or even Christian. Many Christians have been deceived, and as a result the church is being silently infiltrated by Satan.

Why, you say?
Our nation has turned her back on God and has no solid foundation. The church today does not truly open God's Word and study it. True worship of God and intimate relationships with Him are being replaced by religious forms and practices which appeal to the soul (mind, will, and emotions); seeking forgiveness without repentance, exchanging sound doctrine for suiting the desires of men, and expecting grace without loving obedience to God.
The veil of deceit is heavy over people today. Please take a serious look what you and your children are reading and watching. We must be ever on the alert...for the devil goes about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. We live in perilous times. If we are not thoroughly grounded in the Word of God, we will not be able to recognize evil for what it is. Be vigilant, lest you be deceived, for the day of Christ's return is drawing near, and no one knows when that hour will be.

"For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?" - I Cor. 14:8
Addendum:
I know that many Christians will disagree with this post. We do not (nor should we) have an extensive knowledge of witchcraft and the occult. However I believe we should consider the warnings of those who have been involved in those things and know "of what they speak" when they try to warn us. Take Halloween, for example. It may seem harmless enough to do it for just fun, but have you ever read warnings from those who have been involved with the occult and really KNOW how much demonic activity and excitement takes place over "Christians" being involved in Halloween? They "pray" for it and celebrate Christian participation. That is enough of a warning for me to stay away from such activity. Here is a personal testimony that should open your eyes to what I am talking about. The spiritual realm is unseen and therefore largely unknown to us, but it exists as surely as the physical world and we must be very careful to stay safely guarded by the King of the Universe, the Lord Jesus Himself.
It is my prayer that Christians will come fully awake. We do not find the saving Gospel in the Middle Earth with wizards, hobbits, and elves. We find the Gospel only in the Bible and through the blood of our Saviour Jesus.

These things make me uncomfortable. Harry Potter, of course, Lord of the Rings, Narnia. I thought maybe I was just a bit of a fanatic because so many Christians that I respect endorse Narnia. It makes me a bit unsure. How hard it is to feel like you walk alone. I'm glad that even if I feel that way, it's not true.

Don't compare them with each other

I agree we need to be careful, and we need to not blindly follow anyone or everything that anyone says, Chritian or not. We need to test everything against the word for ourselves.

I do not allow my kids to watch or read Harry Potter because it glorifies witchcraft and teaches kids witchcraft.
Lord of the Rings and Narnia are awesome books written by Christian men. Especially Narnia, have read any of CS Lewis' other books?
God gave us imagination and as long the story has a positive moral and good triumphs over evil, it is OK in my eyes.
I believe we get too wrapped up in religiosity, we feel like we can't enjoy simple pleasures in life that God as given us.

Something to think about...

Was Clive Staples Lewis a Christian or a blasphemer? In his book The World’s Last Night and Other Essays on pages 98-99, Lewis said, “Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place… certainly the most embarrassing verse in the Bible. The one exhibition of error and the one confession of ignorance grow side by side. That they stood thus in the mouth of Jesus himself and were not merely placed thus by the reporter, we surely need not doubt… The facts, then, are these: that Jesus professed himself (in some sense) ignorant, and within a moment showed that he really was so.”

Lewis also said in Reflections on the Psalms, page 129, “… as I believe, Christ… fulfilled both paganism and Judaism.” Lewis was also quoted in a biography as follows: “I had some ado to prevent joy and myself from relapsing into paganism in Attica! At Daphni it was hard not to pray to Apollo the Healer. But somehow one didn’t feel it would have been very wrong – would have only been addressing Christ sub-species Apollinis.”

It is my prayer that Christians will come fully awake. We do not find the saving Gospel in the Middle Earth with wizards, hobbits, and elves. We find the Gospel only in the Bible and through the blood of our Saviour Jesus.

Please read the link in my post to read more about C.S. Lewis and his story.

Well, I would sure hope no one analized every word I have said!! I believe he was a human man, but saved none the less.
Even IF CS Lewis was a pagan I would still enjoy his Narnia series (gasp).

I have not checked on the links yet, but I'm guessing I'll agree with them!

I am not saying that God can't use something, but does that mean we are to *intentionally* go there?

I have watched my brother go from LoTR and Narnia into becoming deeply engrossed in secular mystisicm - this is one reason why I will be protecting my own children from these! I want them to be deeply seeped in the Bible, not fantasy.

If we draw the line at a story that promotes good triumphing over evil, then even Star Wars is okay, with a 'force' that can be manipulated. That is not a good, or even fair portayal of our righteous and holy God!!

I am glad to not be alone on this . . . .

I say "Amen" to that. Our children deeply need the Lord and to be well-versed in His Word; to be armored with the truth and wisdom to follow His ways.

Thank you for sharing your story and may it encourage others to see the truth about these things.
