Hinds Feet on High Places

Busy week, quiet weekend

We had a very cold week but today it actually hung around 30 degrees for most of the day. Even colder weather is returning for the coming week, so the break will be short lived. It has been snowing steadily all afternoon. Chores were so much easier although I was on my own as 6 of our children are away for Thursday through Sunday. It is really strange only having 4 children at home...and so VERY QUIET!!! Today I got the water line for the washer thawed with a space heater, so I am working on catching up on laundry; I made two 11.5 pound batches of  goat milk shampoo bars (spearmint and chamomile bergamot), and mixed up a batch of chocolate chip cookies for my dd9 and dd10 to bake. This morning one neighbor dropped off his well-mannered quiet poodle to get "pet sat" for the weekend; and another brought enrollment forms for 4-H. So I sat down and got them filled out this afternoon. My husband cooked a wonderful meal of tender and delicious boneless chicken with bacon, sharp cheese, paprika, and rosemary with carrots and green beans. Maybe tonight we will read some more Little House, and after the kids got to bed we'll watch a western together.

We had a small buck from Delaware given us to butcher up, so we will probably work on that tomorrow.

Yesterday my husband took the day off to see a neuro-opthalmologist about his 3-year problem with double vision. Apparently he was born with a paralyzed eye muscle but has been able to compensate for it until recently. Prism lenses did help some, but it looks like he will need surgery to somehow manage the problem. Another appointment is being scheduled for next month. I hope he can get some relief from the eye fatigue and headaches which result from this ongoing difficulty. We went to his appointment together and enjoyed time out to have a lunch date and buy some items at the craft store for our children to use.

I hope you all have a quiet and relaxing weekend. We plan to!

Sounds like you are having a wonderful time already! I hope that the weekend is a joyful one for you. I also hope that hubby can get his vision problems corrected once and for all. Let me know how the buck turns out...

Love ya,

Kat

I am wondering if you would share how you make the shampoo bars? Maybe you already have, I am fairly new here. Sounds interesting.
Thanks,
