Improving my outlook

Last evening my husband came home and lovingly soothed my troubled mind...

I am so thankful for his devotion and deep love for me. I hope my outlook today is a bit brighter.

I wanted to share some words of encouragement I read on the Kansas Milkmaid blog.You can go there and read the whole article  titled "Ruminating About Reality" for yourself...she is a gifted writer. Her concluding  words spoke to me especially:

As I look at the back to the land movement, I am reminded of the cows that scarf up their hay without digesting it. Sometimes I wonder if folks really know what they are about to get themselves into. They seem to scarf up the romantic notions of rural life and forget they will have to barf up a green ball and chew it again. I have evaluated our sanity a time or three as well. Don’t worry; we come up completely nuts according to all psychological testing. Plunging into farming means there will be some green goo to regurgitate. It is a necessary process and not always pleasant, but don‘t forget…it is a sign of health. However, it is important to chew and chew to digest the cud and later make milk. If we want milk/fruit in our life, we have got to chew that cud again. Part of the farming journey means dealing with reality. Theories are nice. Goals are great. But, in farming you can’t get past the reality. It is reality that makes me realize how udderly dependent I am on God.  (Underlining mine...the words that really spoke to me).
