Hinds Feet on High Places

Lost focus

In the course of the past year I have felt increasingly unsure of my path and confused about things that should be clear to me. It has been disturbing, to say the least, and affected my ability to focus on the things that have always been high on my list of priorities. Big changes such as having a new baby, starting a home business (which includes livestock), and even taking a summer break from homeschooling tend to throw me off in a big way; it takes time to adjust to the changes and settle into a new format for daily living when things get busier and the need to keep certain priorities remains. I was preparing dessert for my guests this evening and listening to a Christian music CD by Randy Travis, when my thoughts came together on the inner struggles I had been having and how they were being resolved simply by returning my focus on the Lord. The answer had been there all along: focus on the Lord and everything else will fall into place. The peace and joy found in walking with God knows no bounds. He is everything to me. It is so amazing to me that God loves us and wants a personal relationship with us. We are made in His image. Even our emotions reflect His likeness-He desires our love and happiness; He feels pain, sorrow, joy, and love even as we do. I am so thankful for a personal God who knows every detail of our lives and seeks fellowship with us.  I should finish by saying that although times like these can be unpleasant or difficult, I can look back and be thankful that God has allowed this period of growth in my life. I have learned so much and been able to make some positive changes in my perspective because of it. And regaining focus did not come by trying to focus on the things that I felt were being neglected, but by spending quiet time in communion with my Lord.

You will keep him in perfect peace,

Whose mind is stayed on You,

        Because he trusts in You.

        -Isaiah 26:3
