Hinds Feet on High Places

Must be almost time

Whew, what a weekend! I can finally sit down to the quiet now that the children are tucked in for the night. Ever notice how the youngest two seem to sense when it is about time for you to deliver your baby? Usually one will be miserable with a cold or teething, and one will be suddenly very demanding and unhappy and difficult to deal with. I guess perhaps I am preoccupied and just don't realize it. Anyway, maybe they know something I don't. I am not due for another two weeks or so, but am beginning to wonder if I will make it that long. This baby feels like a bigger one than most of the others were. We are considering the name Levi...had that name on the back burner for the last four boys, but have yet to use it...now I feel like it is time and feel pretty sure I would like to use it. Still need a middle name, though. I think we should use a virtue- for example, we named one of our boys Caleb Justice. Any readers out there have suggestions for a middle name for Levi???

Things have been so much nicer with this pregnancy as my oldest ones do so much to help without being asked. I do not feel so tired (which is good, since I don't have time for much in the way of naps!) and I don't have to stress so much about the house looking a mess. My oldest daughter, Elizabeth, is 13 years old and has been a tremendous help to me over the past three years or so. I am so thankful for her and God's working in her life. Thankfully, some of them are picking up pretty well on cooking (delicious and edible results),  when I was very tentative about getting started with teaching them because I was afraid we'd end up wasting food or having to eat blunders. They can whip up meals just fine if I won't be home in time from the doctor's or shopping to get something started.

Well, this birth is planned to be at the hospital, which is not something I am really happy about as the last 7 were born at a birth center with midwives. We relocated to a more remote area and don't have the luxury of midwives here, so I am enduring male doctors and a hospital birth this time. Not my first choice, but I'll get through it, I'm sure.

Tomorrow it's back to school, and I find I feel glad to be back in our routine. Weekends are nice, but I often feel tired just because I am out of my routine and the kids get bored indoors...this winter hasn't produced as much snow as usual, so they can get antsy pretty quick. On Saturday the oldest 5 signed up for 4-H projects...sewing, basket making, candle making, cake decorating, candy making, rug weaving, crochet, fishing, archery, shotgun, and forestry. At lunch today we were discussing sheep or goats for next year, and we should plan to do market beef whenever we get steers. I am anxious to try making cheese, yogurt, and soap from goat's milk, and we could certainly try drinking it as we buy milk from a local farm and have been going through 5 gallons every 3-4 days. (I use a lot to make bread, puddings, etc.)

Yesterday I signed up on the homeschool blogger.com site as I am sure that would be valuable resource as well. Haven't written any blogs yet...this is all still so new to me. I've enjoyed reading others' blogs and getting familiar with the whole idea. It's a whole new world out there. I think I will really enjoy it once I get going.

I love Bible names. You asked for an idea about a middle name for Levi. Just an idea Levi Courage? That's just what came to my mind when you asked. I wish we had more children. We only have 2 maybe the Lord will bless us some more. I'm looking forward to reading more about you and your family. I hope and pray you have a safe delivery.

We have a lot in common. We live in PA as well. We're in Potter county about 30 minutes from the NY border.

We also have a Caleb & a Levi. Our Caleb's middle name is Nathaniel & our Levi is Jonathan after his Dad's middle name. Our Levi was also born in Feb. six years ago. His b-day is coming up on the 28th, I can't believe he'll be six.

We homeschool as well, as I'm finding many do here in PA.

If I'm calulating correctly you should be delivering soon if not already! I pray everything goes well for you & all your little ones at home!

I can't wait to hear all about your delivery & what name you chose.
God Bless!
