Apples and applesauce...

                ~Greetings from our PA mountain homestead~

Today I purchased four bushels of apples to make applesauce, for eating, and for baking pies and other apple treats. I had some pears given to me so I think I will cook them with the apples. Next time I want to cook the apples with cranberries and put in a touch of vanilla-my SIL does this and it is delicious!

I never thought of cranberries and apples. Sounds so yummy!! I'm working on about a bushel of apples that I got from my brother's farm. He doesn't know what they are, but they are tart and make a wonderful sauce and pie filling! Today we have a dehydrator full and the kids keep snitching. Hope I have some left to make dried apple bread this winter. :D

nothing like apple sauce, apple pie, apple crumble etc, etc...
I have never heard of using cranberries or vanilla before but it sounds good...
hmmm maybe I should be baking..
