Hinds Feet on High Places

A bumpy first week of school

~Greetings from our PA mountain homestead~

Here is a picture of our little dog Casey sleeping in our bay window. He was a dearly loved pet and will be greatly missed. Sadly he was hit by a jeep this morning and died instantly.  He was 1 1/2 years old. We all cried, and I felt so badly. The whole thing happened right in front of me and there was nothing I could do about it. He slept under the covers with the girls or us at night and loved to snuggle. No more dogs for us-we lost a nice German Shorthair the same way a couple of years ago. We just live too close to the road, country or not.

We have had a rough time getting started on our first week of school here-too much going on and hard to get a routine going. Worst of all, our pet miniature dachshund got hit this morning. Things are beginning to relax a bit today, and I don't feel like my head is spinning. (I also took the time to take my extra vitamins-need my B's!)

The best thing that happened so far this week: my husband brought me home a brand new washer and dryer! This has been wonderful as we have had a lot of rain and couldn't hang clothes for several days-things tend to pile up with a family of 12. The washer is a top loader but washes like the new front loaders. I am going to try those T WAVE activated capsules and essential oils in my laundry as a healthy, economical alternative to detergent and fabric softener.

We are glad to have the sun and some cool fall weather today. My new flower bed is blooming nicely with moonflowers, pink poppies, and three colors of larkspur.  Today I noticed a bloom on my lavendar plants-the first one! Happily the Sweet Annie and Russian Sage I transplanted have taken well. I have been enjoying this new flower bed. It is so lovely, I think I will try to post a picture.

I'm so sorry about your dog. We just lost our dog in the same way. It's heartbreaking.
