Flood of 2006

Today the sun is shining and the skies are clear once again. But the rivers and streams in PA are flooded and are expected to crest later today. My neice and her roommate were evacuated and my husband was in the area yesterday and witnessed the flooding and damage firsthand. Many are saying it is worse than the Agnes flood of 1972 (I was only 2 then and have a couple of memories from that time). We are up in the mountains and don't have any large creeks or rivers near our property, so the flooding isn't so near to home for us. We did get a LOT of rain, though, and thankfully it didn't rain yesterday as they were expecting, although we did get a thunderstorm late last evening. From what I hear they are keeping an eye on a tropical storm off the Carolinas. I hope that stays away from us! Last year at this time the grass was turning brown and it was extremely dry all summer. I believe the water table is caught up now...

So we are trying desperately to get caught up with the laundry (dryer broken for family of 12...not good)  But it IS a gorgeous day for hanging clothes!  

I hope none of you have not been adversely affected by the flooding.
