Ok, so it's been pouring rain since late last week and we've all been cooped up in the house. Not using a lot of energy and so tonight I'm up later than usual and perusing the goat forum on Homesteading Today. Makes me anxious to get some goats of our own...if I only knew where I will get them. I've contacted a couple of folks within reasonable distance, so we'll see if they have any doelings or milking does available yet. That's what I've been up to. I am mainly interested in the Swiss breeds-especially Saanen and Alpine. Like the Nubians but hear they are noisy and don't milk as well. I have been learning a lot about goats and milking procedures (including on today's Front Porch! Thanks, Crystal). I just hope I can get this operation off the ground before it gets late in the year. Winter can come early to these parts. I think I will be the main one to manage this project and am SO anxious to get started! Did I say that before?
