Today my husband put in a nice raised bed for me using old railroad ties and some great rich soil from our old hog enclosure. I transplanted my spring bulbs and geraniums, and put in lavender, lupine, thyme, larkspur, poppies, chamomile, sweet william, and columbines. (I think that's it). I will probably put my peonies in there once they arrive. He also planted a flag pole near that and transplanted a few geraniums around it. I LOVE raised bed gardening! We put a feed lot panel up for the snow peas to trail on. Most of the things we planted have been pushing up this week. We have a number of extra pepper plants, so we just potted them. They should do well there. Last week we doubled the size of the herb (raised) bed and put tomatoes and peppers in. We have two HUGE gardens with the corn, beans, onions, broccoli, cabbage, peas,spinach, lettuce, squashes, cucumbers, etc. This year we put old hay mulch down to help cut weeds and keep in moisture. Once the plants are grown I will have to post some photos.
