Several are describing their day on the 14th of each month.........so here it was.
We got up around 7, since we don't have to get up any certain time I sometimes don't pay much attention. I know many of you are up way before that, I tend to stay up way too late at night and then don't get up as early as I would like. I would like to change that habit. Of course, I always want to check email messages and maybe a blog or two first thing, while I drink a big cup of hot chocolate. Made a phone call to our daughter in Springfield while she was on her way to work. Then fixed sausage and toast for hubby, and I had some leftover breakfast burrito filling to use up from the weekend. It was finally a really nice day..........so, much of the day was spent outdoors! In the morning I got some feeders and waters gathered up for the chicks we are getting on Friday. I also put up a hanging feeder for the ones we already have. Hubby was working on enclosing a chicken pen for the new ones. I also fixed a creep feeder for some little goats that I have shut up. A couple of the younger ones just don't seem to be doing as well as I would like, so I thought I would pen them away from the others and make sure mama is getting enough feed. I also gave her a shot of Vitamin B to help her out. I filled the creep feeder for the mama and baby pen, fed and watered the baby chicks, watered everyone else and turned one pen of goats out to eat some grass. I checked things in the greenhouse, did some watering and moved things around to make sure each little plant could enjoy the wonderful sunshine today! We came in for lunch, again leftovers for me from the weekend and hubby had an omlet. Not really exciting in the food for the day! He is quite a picky eater and not much on leftovers, so I many times finish them up and he is always happy with some kind of breakfast meal. Before going back out, I did dishes, then a friend and her daughter came by to see the baby goats. They were here a while, we just sat on the ground in the goat pen by the big hay bale and played with the babies..........a fun way to enjoy the warm sunny afternoon! I planted a few rows in the garden beets, spinach, carrots. Hubby started burning a waterway and lane east of the house. The renter and neighbor, one in the same, went by on his way to start burning the pasture just below this area, so it was the perfect time for us to do ours as the areas adjoin. I walked down the road and watched the fire for a while, something about a fire is so inviting.......I am not sure that is the word I want to use, but can't think of another right now. I then got busy with chores while hubby watched the fire burn out. When he was finished we ran into town to Mom's for a few minutes. Came home and I finished feeding hay, tended the baby chickens again, and watered the greenhouse..........actually watered the plants in the greenhouse. When I got in the house hubby had supper started, yeah! I finished it up, we ate, I went back out to shut the goats in the area near the barn for overnight. SIL Linda called and I visited with her, which I had not done in a while, so that was nice. Here I am doing this entry and checking messages and friends blogs again before bed. And it is 11:30pm.........I guess I am not starting to go to bed early tonight........maybe tomorrow??? That was our day today, Monday, April 14th. Thank you Lord for the beautiful day! We so enjoyed it. Country Blessings, Marilyn~at Heritage Hill Homestead { Post a Comment } { Last Page } { Page 108 of 202 } { Next Page } |
