Chickens as they grow

I had a comment from farmgal35 asking for pictures of the chicks as they grow.  I can do that right now as I took them of the group we raised last fall.

It is really hard to believe how fast they grow!

Goodness gracious! That is amazing! What kind of chickens are they and do you use them for eggs or meat or what? Do you still have them all? We just got a shipment of 20 day olds in today. We just got started last year at this time when a friend gave us 15 or so. Thanks for the pictures.

Enjoy your babies! These are Cornish cross they are bred for meat and grow really fast, they are ready to process at 7 weeks or a little older if you want big birds. Notice they don't have many feathers, they are also bred so that they are easier to process with fewer feathers.

Wow, just wow. The cornish crosses really do grow that fast in 7 weeks. I have thought of doing some but the girls wont let us eat the chickens. The hogs and beef are ok to raise and eat but not chickens.

Trust me, they are so ugly by the time they are ready to process....everyone is ready to get rid of them!
