Babies Arrived

 I was  feeding hay to "the girls"  goat girls this morning just before noon when I noticed a little bundle of joy laying right in the middle of the shed with a group of other goats!   Last evening I thought to myself that Firefly looks like she is getting closer to kidding.............well I guess I was right, as she had had a single 11 lb. buckling sometime this morning!  He was dried off and had eaten, just laying there taking a nap while Mom was munching hay with the other girls.  I got them moved to a kidding pen and settled in.

We headed to Topeka to take Mom to do some shopping.  Also was able to watch a little of our Granddaughter's basketball game while there.  So that worked out great, as we didn't think about her game when we decided to go today.

Came home after dark to finish chores and found that Strawberry had finally kidded too!  Another single buckling weighing in at 11 1/2 pounds!  He too was pretty well dry and had eaten.  This is the kind of kidding I like, no problems with babies doing fine when we find them!!!  Praise the Lord!  We really thought they both would have twins, but ended up with big singles.

I will try to get some pictures tomorrow and share.  (I still have Christmas pictures on the camera I have to get downloaded before I can take any more)  Just a little behind.

While shopping we stopped at Michael's and got some bargains for sure.  They had 90% off Christmas items they had left!  Now that is pretty near giving it away!!  Got some big red bows, and greenery.  They also had a display of $1 items, now that is my kind of price.  I got several gift items and a couple things for myself as well.  Lots of journals, note cards, sticky notes, recipe boxes, etc.

Some very sad news.  A friend of my kids Mom passed away this afternoon.  Last Saturday evening she suffered a massive stroke.  They found a blockage of 100% on one side of her neck and 90% on the other.  They were not able to do surgery in her condition.  Her condition worsened through the week and finally this afternoon she passed away.

Also, a classmate of my older son's passed away on Sunday of a massive heart attack at  age 36, leaving 4 children.

My prayers are with both of these families!  Actually my younger son had been roommates at different times with family members of each of these.  The ladies son and the young mans brother. 

Well, I have been staying up late the past few nights to check goats, so I am tired.  I think I will run out and see the babies and then go to bed at a decent time tonight.

Congratulations on your babies. Now I know who else to talk to when ours has hers. Missy, our soon to be momma goat. She is a Nubian and Boar mix. We bred her with a Nubian. I can't wait.

I'm sorry to hear about your friends. I'll be praying for them too.
