January gone already

Very hard to believe that the month of January has already passed us by!  After a busy summer and Christmas I was looking forward to some down time.  Well, I have taken advantage of that I think.  I have accomplished a few extra things this month, but not enough.  November and December we had many very nice days and we really did get a lot of things done outside around the farmyard.  Things picked up, hauled off, burned, organized, painted...........  Each year we host a Live Nativity Scene for our community.  This is a great opportunity to share our animals and place with others in celebration of Jesus birth!  However, it is also a deadline that prompts us to get things up to snuf around here.   The garage has to be cleaned as it is where the hot chocolate and cookies are served.  Well, sometimes the weather doesn't cooperate, this year it didn't.  Such lovely days before and after, but on the Saturday we had scheduled it was a blizzard!  All this to say that once Christmas was over I had high hopes of continuing the cleaning spree we had been on.  But as I stated earlier we have pretty much been on down time since then.  Of course we have had lots of snow and cold this month which doesn't motivate nearly as much as a nice day!  

My goals were: 

 January get our 1 main closet cleaned and organized!  Yes, we really only have 1 closet in the house, and it is kind of a hallway.  Built in 1901, neither bedroom had a closet.  There has since been a closet built in one corner of our bedroom. 

February clean the basement!  It is really a root cellar just under the kitchen area.  We had some water back up from the drain and so there is dried mud and some water damage to be dealt with.

Well, neither has been even started YET.   I hope March will bring garden and more outside work, so these were good winter project plans. 

I made a batch of cookies this morning, a new recipe that is pretty good.  I had cut it out of the newspaper months ago and finally decided to try it.

Dh had supper ready when I came in from chores this evening, chicken and homemade noodles that we made this week, and mashed potatoes!  Yummy, this is one of our very favorite meals. 

Well, I need to run to the barn and check on Strawberry..........no babies yet...........then head to bed.
