Winter again

Boy did the wind blow yesterday, one of those days that you can hardly walk upright!  It did blow in a storm.  We awoke this morning to cold, blowing and by mid morning a genuine snow storm!  Very little acumulation though, and by mid afternoon the sun was shining.  Kansas................

Dh had Dr. appointments yesterday morning, we had to leave home by 5:45 that is AM!  Our alarm clock died right after Christmas.........well, we hadn't needed one until yesterday.  Dh has a gift of an internal alarm, if we need to get up at a certain time he can almost always wake up at just that time.  If amazes me!  However on a day of Dr. or other appointments we would set the alarm as a back up.  So, in this case neither of us slept all that well wondering if it was time to get up yet??  BTW, we made it just fine, his alarm went off as planned.

We did get the pullets moved to their new home, it is only a few feet away, but it was quite a job to move them.  I suspect most men are this way?  Dh is always in a hurry with the animals, I find that if you give them their space and some time they cooperate a whole lot better!  He was in their house hollaring and shewing them with them flying all over completely confused!  Finally he went outside to get the first ones headed into the gate and I was able to quietly head the rest of them out the door!  The place they are now is not nearly as warm as where they were, with this cold I expect they are not really happy about their new home.  They are old enough to be fine, just maybe not happy..........

On the goat front, "Strawberry" is our problem pregnant goat of the month!  Looked like she was close on New Year's day to kidding.  So she was penned up for a few days then, nothing happened.  The middle of the month we go through the same thing again, turned her back out, now she is penned up again in the kidding stall as I really think she is close now.  We shall she.........I will let you know when the blessed event really happens! 

Some days it seems like not much extra gets done around here, but today I am proud of our accomplishments.  We made several batches of noodles this morning, then after chores this afternoon I made a batch of Apple Pie Jam.  I will try to remember to post the recipe as it is a little different and very good!

Now I know compared to what I read that many of you accomplish each day, that doesn't sound like much.  That is one of the reasons I enjoy reading blogs here is that they inspire me a great deal.  There are only Dh and myself here and I still can't seem to keep up with things in the house as I should.  One big problem is I like to be outside if it is nice out at all!  Therefore inside gets neglected!  Reading about the everyday lives of many of you with large families, homeschooling, etc.  I feel like if they can accomplish all of these things then I surely can too!  So, thanks for the inspriation I need along the way!!

Greetings from another Kansas gal! Isn't life on the farm fun? One never knows what to expect from one day to the next and this weather really keeps us on our toes! Stay warm...Sounds as if we have a major snow storm headed our way tomorrow! Hugs, Sher
