Here is a copy of the newsletter I sent to our friends and customers yesterday. I thought since it has been so long since I checked in here that this would be a good start at catching up. The graphics did not come through when I copied it?
Hello to our friends on this cold January day! The weather know-it-alls are saying warmer weather is coming this weekend and boy am I ready!!
I really can't complain though, I do not mind being outdoors even on these cold days. I have plenty of nice warm chore clothes and some wonderfully warm boots ( Christmas gift from hubby), and actually I get too hot while out working.
We have 2 baby goat kids right now. A couple more does are looking close, then we will have to wait until March 1st for the remainder of the babies to start arriving. I just can't wait!! These babies are both little bucklings and are to be the project for our Grandson, Nick's first year in 4-H.
We were not able to have the Live Nativity in December, we had a real snow storm that day! We are planning for next year...........
We have an abundance of eggs for sale. Our hens have taken the winter off, however, in order to keep our customers eating "good eggs" we were able to purchase a large amount of farm fresh eggs from some friends. So let us know when you need some. We are making a delivery to Emporia area customers on Saturday morning at 10. We do not have anymore fryers, but do have a good selection of Elk meat, some Goat, some ground Buffalo, whole hog sausage, and lean ground beef available right now.
Also for sale.........10 week old pullets. If you have a place for a few laying hens of your own, this would be a great start. They will be starting to lay this spring. We have about 20 to sell.
Heritage Hill Homestead..........where did that name come from?
I thought long and hard for just the right name for out little spot!
Heritage~ my Grandparents purchased this house and acreage in 1925
my Dad was born in this house 82 years ago today!!
"Happy Birthday Daddy"
my folks lived their entire married life right here since 1948
we moved here in 2001
Hill~ we are located on somewhat of a hill, not really high,
but you can see for a long way
Homestead~to me this means a small place to live a simple, somewhat
old-fashioned, self-sufficient lifestyle surrounded by animals
and God's magnificent handiwork
We are not totally self-sufficient nor will we ever be, but by gardening, raising meat animals and eggs we have a good start. The beauty, fresh air and quiet in country living is worth so much!
Speaking of heritage, our youngest son was born on my Dad's birthday,
so Happy Birthday to Rlyn also! I am not about to tell you how old he is,
it makes me feel my age.......
One more advertisement. The Baptist Church in hosting their annual Valentine's Banquet on Saturday, February 9. It is a fund-raiser for the building fund. (Jim will be the Chef). We are serving Pork loin for the main course. If you would like to celebrate with your special Valentine contact us for tickets or they can be purchased at the door.
Until next month, stay warm!
