It has been too long...........
It has been too long since my first post........I am going to have to get in the habit of stopping in here each day!
We have had a lot of goings on this past month at Heritage Hill Homestead! Lots of new babies, let's see, 10 goat kids, 3 Jacob lambs, and puppies!! The very newest arrival was the third out of 3 ram lambs. Born sometime this afternoon. The puppies were born probably during the night on Sunday. Sadie was acting different, should have shut her in the barn......but since we didn't, she had them under the front porch. We really don't know how many, Jim thought he saw 3 at least. Will just have to wait a few days to find out.
Spent the morning moving goats around again. Seems that is needed often with new babies. Moved the 4 newest goat kids along with Moms into the "Mama" pen today. There was a bit of confusion until all settled in. With so many running around it is sometimes hard to tell who belongs to who?? I will go out now before bed and make sure all are settled in for the night in their appropriate family groups.
Then the Pygmy family moved into the pen previously occupied by the above mentioned 4 newest Boer babies, so that the 2 closest expectant Pygmies could be moved into the barn in case they kid during this cold spell. We had some rain and a little snow yesterday and overnight. Today has been cloudy and quite chilly compared to the spring like weather we have had most of the winter here!

Wow, sounds exciting with all the new arrivals!!! Our kidding season won't start for another 6 weeks due to my laziness in getting a buck over. = ( Enjoy all your new babies!
