Spring I hope

What a beautiful day it was today, Spring is in the air again!  This afternoon Dh suggested I finish up chores asap so we could go to pick up seed potatoes!  He says he feels in his bones that winter is over, I sure hope he is right.  Of course we will have some cold days yet and the nights will be cold for quite a while yet, but we hope the worst is over now.  We got potatoes and some onions, had already gotten some onions a couple weeks ago, sugar snap peas and radishes.  The garden is still pretty wet, but he thinks some of it can be tilled within a few days.

Yesterday morning we had the first of this second round of baby goat kids. A bouncing 12 pound baby buckling!  He is strong and healthy, we are thankful for that.  After checking everyone in the goat pen this afternoon, it looks like we have quite a few getting close, should be 6-7  more kid in the next 2 weeks.

In the afternoon a couple of friends and I went to pick up some young laying hens.  Some folks are moving and selling everything.  Besides the hens, we have gotten fence T-posts, cages, feed pans, waters, tank heater, barrels lots of good deals on things we can always use around here.

This afternoon Dh and I took some of the barrels into town to get bulk feed, this is quite a bit cheaper than sacked so will be a big help.  He usually picks up feed, but I wanted to go along to see what had to be done to fill the barrels.  I am one that feels much more comfortable once I know exactly where I am going and what will happen when I get there!!  I am not good at finding places I am not familiar with.

I had to take Dh into town anyway as he had left the pickup there this morning to have tires mounted.  We were desperately in need of new tires and had been saying for months that we were going to have to get some.  Finally last week we were blessed to find a great deal on a set of 4.  Ds works at a salvage store and had a nice slightly used set available when we stopped to check with him.
