Exotic Auction
Today was an Exotic auction (as in animals), I just thought that may sound funny to some folks. It is held at a town an hour away from us 3 times a year. It is a highlight for me as I enjoy auctions anyway and this one is always fun to attend! There really are not that many exotic animals, mostly llamas, donkeys, miniature cattle, goats, sheep, miniature ponies and then all kinds of poultry, ducks, guineas, rabbits, etc. We needed to have a few less mouths to feed with hay getting really low now and feed prices going up! So we took a Jenny donkey and her baby from last summer, a heifer and a steer, our Boer buck, 2 Boer cross does, 4 Pygmy does, and our 2 bottle babies to sell. The weather had been beautiful all week, but they were predicting bad thunderstorms for last night and today here, with severe winter storms in other parts of the state. We were so blessed as we loaded the big livestock yesterday and they spent the night in the trailer, then this morning we were able to load without it raining!! It did rain during the night last night, but held off today until the sale had started so we were all inside when it hit. It rained and hailed for a while........then the sun came out and the storm was over by the time the sale ended! There really wasn't a bad storm at all. Thank you Lord!! Our animals sold pretty well, and most important to me the bottle babies and our big buck went to good homes. I really will miss my little bottle babies they are so precious, but on the other hand, I don't have to go out tonight and feed them either.........I can just go to bed pretty soon and relax.
Tomorrow should be a quiet day, and we are ready for that. Today was about too much for Dh, he is worn out.
God's blessings on you, yours and the work of your hands.
