Cold Day Outside

Winter is here for sure!  It has been a very cold day here is Kansas today. The weather man said that we may get above freezing again a week from tomorrow.......that sounds like a long time off!  I have plenty of warm clothes to wear out doing chores, so I don't really mind the cold as long as the wind isn't too strong.  In fact, I usually end up getting hot if I am working. 

The problem with this cold spell is that our goats are due to start kidding on Saturday.  That could happen a couple of days either side of the due date, so we are watching closely from now on.  This evening we picked out 4 that look the closest and did shut them up in a stall just to be safe.  We have kidding pens, but they are pretty small, so decided to put a small number together like this until they really are close, they can hang out with friends and be a little calmer this way.  We feed mid to late afternoon and I really believe that has an affect on the time of day that they go into labor.  We have only had 1 goat in 3 years kid during the night.  Some may be pretty early morning, but most are mid day........which is really nicer than midnight!!

Kind of a quiet day around here, I started knitting another scarf this evening.

Hi Marilyn!
We too live in Kansas and have been experiencing this COLD weather! We have thought about getting some goats but after the cold year we are having I'm about to back out of that idea...At this rate I'm doing good to take care of the cats and dog! What a nice surprise to hear from you. We are at Lebo, so neighbors really! I added you to my friends list so we can keep in touch. I had not run across anyone on here from Kansas yet and wondered if anyone was from the Sunflower state. Stay warm today!
