Time for Tea
Quite a treat this evening for me! My Mom made a loaf of Bara Brith bread and sent some home with me, so I had 2 pieces with a cup of tea. What is that you ask?? It is a traditional Welsh bread that our family enjoys. I have not made it, always wait for Mom to do it..........I really need to try my hand one day soon. We also have Plum Pudding at Christmas and I am next in line to learn to make that as well.
Spent most of the afternoon outside, it was fairly pleasant out actually for a January day with lots of snow on the ground. We moved a couple of goat girls that are due soon to a smaller pen by themselves, cleaned up the feed section of the barn a little, and general chores.
Hubby fixed fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, and home canned green beans for supper....yummy! A neighborhood man passed away and the visitation for him was this evening in town. I went in and picked up Mom and went for a little while. This man has made quite an impact on the community around him. He was an only child, married very late in life, and the only surviving relative mentioned is a cousin besides his 103 year old wife. They are such generous people and have made huge donations to local churches, senior center, etc. and I am quite sure have helped many, many folks that we will never know about. Now if you noticed, I mentioned 103 years old..........that is right, and she acts about 80! He was 84 and they seemed about the same age. Quite a unique couple and such a blessing to everyone around them! Anyway, when I got home supper was ready to sit down and eat!
