Laundry soap
Someone asked about how to make laundry soap. A friend gave me her recipe, but here is a link to a very detailed similar recipe that I found online. Thanks to Crystal Miller of The Family Homestead site.

My recipe does make a 5 gallon bucket, so I use a whole bar of Fels Naptha soap, and 1 1/2 cups of each of the other 2 ingredients. I have saved a plastic jug that purchased soap came in and fill it from the big bucket. That makes it handy to store near the washer, and also it can be easily shaken before each use.
You should give it a try, it is very easy to do and quite a $$ saver!

Hi there, when I run into people who make their own laundry soap I have to ask this....Does your soap cause your clothing to fade faster than it normally would? I have this problem and I can not figure out why.

No, I have not noticed fading using this. I have been using it totally for about a year and a half. I do most loads in cold water, using hot for whites. That would make a difference with any soap I would think?
