I am

still here, busy baking and getting ready for Christmas.  It has been a long time again, several days go by and then I think it will take too long to update right now and just put off blogging.

The end of last week Rlyn and Kaylan stayed with us while he was deer hunting.  We so enjoy having them stay.  No deer, so we will see them again this weekend I am sure.  Hubby cooked for the men's breakfast at church on Saturday morning.  This was the second one and they had a good turn out again.

Monday we worked in the shed again, a whole week had gone by with no progress.........so back to work!  Hubby didn't feel the best, so he helped unload and load a couple of loads.  We got all of the old lumber that was stacked in the shed loaded and hauled out and piled in the corral to burn.  It took 4 trailer loads and I loaded 2 of them all by myself.  I was exhausted at the end of that day.  But oh such a feeling of accomplishment!  I set my mind to get it done and just kept going until it was done! I was bothered some by the fact of thinking about how hard my Daddy had worked years ago tearing down the old barn and pulling all the nails and carefully stacking that lumber in the shed.  Now we were working so hard pulling it all out and taking it to burn.  Sad.  I had thought some of it would be useable, but very little was as the termites had really riddled it.

Yesterday, hubby was able to get it burned, I was busy in the house which was probably just as well, as I said it was bothering me to think about it.  I had pies and cinnamon rolls to make and was busy with that most of the day.  We had our Ladies Christmas party at church last night.  I ended up taking a pan of cinnamon rolls and a coconut-pecan pie since that is what I already had going.  Now I realize if everyone had only brought desserts it might have been an interesting meal.........but there of course was plenty of good food and everyone seemed to enjoy the rolls especially.  We had a good turn out and a great time.

Last night ended up being late and I was tired, so since I had to rush off to church without cleaning up my baking mess.........that is what I got to do first thing this morning.  Not a lot of fun, but that is the way it goes sometimes.

Today was a beautiful day!!  I was able to get the Christmas lights put up on the garage and shed.  We also worked in the shed until after dark this evening.  I can now say that the shed is cleaned out!!! There are a few things hanging on the wall that I want to keep and display there or somewhere on the farm.  Things like old branding irons, some old tools, horseshoes, I found a license plate that happened to be the year I graduated from HS, so I thought I would save that.  Now, there is a whole row of "stuff" lined up outside to be dealt with tomorrow, some needs to go to the dump and some will be kept.  But the worst is behind us.  The project took the best part of 5 days.  Wow.  I am sure you are tired of reading about us cleaning up this mess, but it has been a big deal to us.

I spent some time also this morning going over my list of things to get ready for the Live Nativity coming up.  I love being able to email folks asking for their help,  it sure saves a lot of time on the phone.  I only have a few more spots to fill, things seem to be coming along pretty well so far.  This is the 7th year, so each year gets a little easier, but still have to make the contacts asking for donations and help.  I have asked a friend to be responsible for taking pictures so I hope to have lots to share with you.  I intend to each year, but get busy and just forget to take any, so this is a new job created for someone else this year.

That is about it for now.  Tomorrow will be spent working on Nativity things too.  Saturday is our town's Christmas celebration, I am not really involved in that much, will take in a little of it. But I have a big baking order for Sunday, so will be doing that most of the day.  Cinnamon rolls and 9 pies!  Sunday evening we have a caroling party planned at church, looking forward to that.

Country Blessings,

OK, I'm exhausted just reading your blog! I'm sure the feeling to have that all done is wonderful.
