• Saturday, March 4, 2006 - Can I panic now?
Our date has changed. We are no longer moving to a new house when
our lease is up on June 30th. Instead, we are moving to a new
community due to a job transfer ... May 1st!!!
Breathe ... breathe ... I need a plan!!! House needs to be
realtor-ready by mid-March. House needs to be packed before the
end of April.

• Thursday, March 2, 2006 - A beginning ...
I realize that I have months to be packed ... and I don't know when the
house will go on the market ... so there is a heady feeling of blissful
ignorance keeping me from making much headway.
Today I chose to combat that lethargy by starting *somewhere*.
There is a small closet upstairs. It's really quite creepy.
There is a light ... though it's more of a "dark" because it makes
everything seem all the more dim. It's a very old light fixture
from the time when electricity was added to this house in the early
1900's. I believe that the original bulb is intact. It
certainly doesn't appear to be a replacement. I took pictures,
which I may share later, because it really is a cool lightbulb.
LOL I won't turn it on again before we move because I'm afraid
*I* will be the one to cause it to blow out.
Anyway, that closet is now clean. Anything loose that will stay
with the house will be placed in that closet. Some building
materials, curtain rods and two light fixtures are already in
there. I'm glad to be done with the creepy place. Ugh!

• Friday, February 24, 2006 - Space crunch ...
I was blessed earlier this week to be able to purchase a new set of
stainless steel cookware. Sam's Club carries the Wolfgang Puck
Cookware set. I had purchased a similar set (called W.P.'s Chef's
Collection) some five years ago, and it has stood up wonderfully
well! The nonstick coating in those older skillets started to
peel so I retired them in favor of my cast iron skillet. This new
set has no nonstick coating. I'm so glad! I won't use
anything nonstick anymore.
We often host other families in our home for meals, so the extra large
pots and pans will come in handy. Now I'm left with the chore of
housing these additional items! We only have a few cupboards in
our kitchen. I've been using the two shelves on the microwave
cart to store my pots and pans, but the new ones will not fit.
Perhaps I can store the smaller ones somewhere? I seldom use them.
I rarely use the microwave, but it's a handy spot for the coffeemaker
to be placed out of reach of little hands. I am anxious to know
where the Lord intends us to move ... and if there will be sufficient
cabinet and counter space! LOL
Here's a link to the set that I purchased: Wolfgang Puck Cookware

• Thursday, February 23, 2006 - Introduction and purpose ...
I am a homeschooling momma of five children. We live in a small
town in the rural midwest, but are moving to the country in July!
Short-term, I need to make our home realtor-ready. Long-term, I
need to declutter as much as I can so moving goes more smoothly.
We live in a rather large home, but will have to downsize when we move. I'd love tips on making a home ready to sell and down-sizing my belongings! ~ Heart At Home
