Pumpkin Soup

I ordered the book, Pumpkin Soup, a few days ago for the children. It arrived yesterday and we sat down last night to read it. What a wonderful book! The illustrations are beautiful and the story was super. The story is about a squirrel, a duck and a cat. They usually work together to get the soup made but on one occasion one of them wants to do it differently. The story shows how important it is to work together and how each person has a role to play, each role being important.
What really pleased me too was the fact that when I sat sown to read it to Amy and James, Amy asked to read it to us. This was super as her reading needs to be worked on (her strength is Maths..like her daddy!). She did really well! She attempted most words and only needed help with a few. Although it took three times as long to read I was delighted as it really built up her confidence which is quite low in this area.
Check out the book! Your kids will love it!

My Reading List
Posted on Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at 11:00
I find it hard to confine myself to one book at a time! I have just finished a Wanda Brunstetter book called "Going Home". I am also reading "Kingdom Come: A Final Victory", the last of the Left Behind books. The book I am really enjoying at the moment is called "A Wayne in a Manger" by Gervase Phinn. It is a collection of stories about real incidents in Gervase Phinn's life as a school inspector of English and Drama in Yorkshire in England. The stories are hilarious. It's amazing the daft things that go through children's minds. Phinn has written a few books of his collections of funny, but real, stories. The book I am reading at present is a collection of Christmas stories.
What is on your bedside table to read at the moment?
