in Africa Trip - Post Comment

We made progress. We moved into the house, lock, stock and barrel. We are feeling quite civilized living in a home with actual bedrooms. We are using the stools as night stands and we even have a table in the dining room with chairs around it for the kids. Teresa fixed up some mattresses in the living room as couches and everyone is comfortable and happy. We put a blanket over each bedroom door, so there is even a relative amount of privacy. Steve put one light in the kitchen and the outlet in the dining room. We left all the rest of the wiring in the church so we could watch a DVD on Sat. night. The fire is burning in the fireplace – not that it is cold, just for the comfy feeling. Teresa says we are feeling a little spoiled.

We sanded window sills and scraped walls in the church and just about did all the flat coat of paint as far as we can reach, but we will finish that tomorrow. Then we will do the doors and window sills in the brown paint before we do the cream color on the walls. We all worked hard.

Kirbys walked to Ikonda today. They expected to catch a bus but ended up walking the whole way there and part of the way back. She had wanted one of my big girls to go with her, but I said no because we had so much work to do here and my girls are good workers, so Chris went with her. My girls are very grateful they didn’t have to walk those 14 miles there and part of the way back.  They had quite a heavy load of fruit they carried back. I think we could have gotten fruit in Lupalilo but they like to go to Ikonda. I think they like to shop. They did see a troupe of monkeys that might have made the walk worth it.

It hasn’t rained in several days. That’s a nice change.

Please pray for Isabelle. She is still very sick. She has had a fever since Friday. Today it was 103. It comes and goes. It’s hard to keep her resting when it goes. Leila is doing great. All the other kids are fine.

Today Isabelle and Christina gave Maggie and Mattie and Yulie each a purse full of little toys. You would have thought it was Christmas. The Mattie and Maggie were screaming with joy! They loved their dolls and things. Yulie is very serious but you could see her happiness. She held the purse tight and occasionally looked through it with a contented look on her face.  Izzy has been looking for an opportunity to give them these things for awhile. She had to have them away from all the other kids before it would be safe to do so.  It wasn’t long before more little children came along and saw so Izzy gave them each a stuffed toy and then Barasa asked them all to go home.

Brianna decided to give Miriam her bag that she had used as a carry-on. It really was too small, though, so she gave it to Miriam. Miriam was THRILLED as a little girl. She thanked her and shook her hand. Then she got Barasa and came and thanked me and said it was going to be “nice for Sabbath.” Next she ran down the hill to show it off to her friends at the sewing school.

We all went through our things as we moved from the church to the house and decided what we were not going to take home. I think we will go home with half of our original stuff.

We had a few trials this evening. Teresa and I, without really saying so, decided singing was our best option. Singing in this house is a lot of fun because it rings!!! I still had to pray, though.

Okay, so Thanksgiving is a busy time here, I guess, so we are not going to Lake Malawi until the 5th.  Jason made all our arrangements so we are set.

Until next time… Angela

Hey Jonah, Sam and Matt! How are things goin? My Mom would like to know when you guys will arrive in Seattle! Maybe we could hang out for some pizza!
Of all the luxuries of home, I would give them all up just to go to Africa for one day! So, Izzie, how are you? Get better soon alright! You don't want to miss out on all of your mission trip!
I rented my skis yesterday. They are k2's and I really like my boots. We should get together this winter and go down a few runs! I've learned a few new knots lately! Its the clove hitch. Great knot!
Hey Vannessa, thanks for the help on my sabbath paper! I get my grade tommorow! I'd get an F on this note for sure huh! LOL Get back quick boys, because the teacher is going into clauses. Yuck! They are so complicated, I'm sure thats gonna be a bad grade. LOL Christina, thats to bad about your burn though, man, if that happened to me I'd be screamin like a girl with a leech on her nose! LOL
I miss all of you sooo much, and that includes the girls to, I sure appreciate you lots. You've saved us boys from gettin hurt or lectured many a time! LOL
Don't pay any attention to our teasin.
Hey fords, remember when I came over for piano and wanted to go sledding or belly sliding with you guys? I sure looked sissy, pink coat and purple pants. WOW I must have been a sight. Well, I've bored you guys enough. Write later.
Your pal and prayer warrior,
Garhett...........

Hi there, we are booked from the 4th till the 9th. That's a Thursday to a Tuesday I think. Can't reach the calendar right now with Shiloh on my lap. So, you guys are very welcome to come out earlier if you want to spend some time around here before we go because I don't know how close the return on the 9th puts you to your departure and Jason mentioned you wanted to go on a safari as well. I would appreciate a bit of help from you (your mom mentioned you'll come, thanks!) to get the menu finalized so we can shop accordingly. :) Hope everybody will be well again by that time. Praying that Chris will recover soon. If he doesn't he's welcome to come out here after he's been to the hospital.

Thinking of you all ... I know it isn't easy but you're sure bonding! (Or un-bonding perhaps?)

See you all in a few days,
Antionette
