New Morning

in Africa Trip - Post Comment

It is of the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed,

Because his compassions fail not.

They are new every morning:

Great is Thy faithfulness.

The Lord is my portion says my soul;

Therefore I hope in HIM!

The Lord is good to those that wait for Him,

To the soul that seeks Him.

It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for

The salvation of the Lord!

Lamentations 3:22 – 27

It’s another beautiful sunny morning in Tanzania. The birds are singing sweetly and the dew is sparkling on the grass. It was anything but peaceful this morning at 6 am, though. First off Dad and Dale had to go catch the bus at 5 this morning…they waited for an hour but the Mwafrica never came! So they ended up taking a penguin at 6. Eeeek!!! The penguins are not the transportation of choice around here. It’s a mini-bus that they fill up to overflowing. Five or six hours squished in a bus, 3 people to a seat aught to give them a new perspective on life J. The reason they are not going with mom is there are ten fundis riding with her. The road is still blocked this morning so they decided to try going up the foot path. It was amazing, but they did it! You can do anything you set your mind to in Africa! One spot was a little iffy; how to get the truck over the irrigation ditch was a concern, but a few boards and many willing hands the truck made the hurdle. The mud is so slippery this morning that a lot of people in the back of the truck was needed for weight.

Now it’s just the T*lls, the F*rd and the K*rbys out here without a vehicle.

Dale was not too keen on leaving yet. He wanted to stay a few more days. He had many ideas and reasons why he could leave after the weekend, but we insisted that he go now with my dad. Mom says when the bus stops and you get off for a quick break, sometimes it is very confusing which bus to get back on since they all look the same.  I know he will enjoy the weekend at Kibidula. Dale loves to fly so I hope that Jason takes him for a flight. (Hint hint!!! J ) He will also enjoy visiting the Swiss families since that is his heritage. I think he is very, very sorry he didn’t come sooner. Going to Africa for 3 weeks is NOT ideal… it just isn’t enough time. It takes almost a week to get here and a week to get home. Anyway, Dale will go with mom and dad to Dar and mom plans on taking him sight-seeing and then hook him up with the other group flying home. It will all work out great.

I liked the story about the rats. I know it wasn't very funny for you Mrs. Tall, but it kinda was for me. (I think he is sorta copying your mom, Teresa.) I hope Isabelle and Jonah gets well. I feel like if I was there I'd be chasing the rat and trying to whack it with a stick. Jared.

Well, we hear from you twice in a day... I think you have heard we all are reading your bloggs and know that your friends coming home are still interested in what they are missing out on.

I must admit that the story about the rat seemed quite amusing but after thinking about it for a while it is possible I'd be right there with you Teresa. I tried to find a picture of a rat for Jared, but they actually looked more like cute mice. Did anyone actually take a picture of the creature? The rat I remember seeing in the Marshall Islands was about 6-8 inches long or longer + tail -- an ugly creature. If he had been running around I definately would've joined Teresa.

I glad Dale was able to leave before the chance of getting locked in due to mud. I also hope that when it comes time for you to leave that you are able to get out.

We are sorry that you got burned Christina, and Jonah and Isabelle are sick. It is a reminder that we need to continue to pray for you (which we do) because only God know what the next day holds.

Jon and Teresa I thought that you'd like to pray for the Byers. Pastor sent an e-mail that Wayne Byers died in a car accident last Sunday the 9th. The funeral is planned to be Sabbath the 22nd. He had retired from being UCC Pathfinder coordinator.

We have had so much rain here. It is almost he forcast here for days and days. The clear sunny day yesterday and highs about 52 was really welcomed.

Yesterday, Joyanna asked me to read her the story of Elijah and the Time of No Rain. The story reminds me that when the day comes and we need to leave our homes or even if we are in our homes and we have daily needs that God can supply our needs. I'm sure you have experienced times when God has meet your needs and He won't let you down. You are there to serve Him and He is there beside you.

We miss you Angela, Steve, Vanessa, Brianna, Christina, Bethany, Teresa, Jonah, Sam, Isabelle, Leila and Johonnas. We look forward to when you come home. (Kirbys I don't know you as well, but I know your church family will be happy to have you back also.) God be with you. Delores

Hey everybody! This is Garhett! How's it all goin? Hey Jonah, would you save that rat you killed? Try to sneak it past your mom! LOL Sam, tell your bro to get better so he can stand guard for his mom! We're watching Genesis and Addy today. It's ( oops I used a taboo!) impossible to watch them and do the chores at the same time. Matt, how have you been lately? That cameleon looked awseome! Remember the one we saw in Mexico? I'd give anything to be there right now but, knowing me, Sam and I would race hotwheels into the womens bathroom. Remember that Sam! There's no one to talk to on Army of Youth. Its so sad. : ( I feel really out of place when I go to Mrs. Voorhes class. Hey Beth, The Kit movie is out. Its better because there are boys on it! LOL Well, I better go change Addy. NOOOOOOOO!See Ya in what seems like years.
Your Brother in Christ,
Garhett.......

Angela, I haven't had a chance to comment on your trip until today, but I've been enjoying reading of the good (and not so good) adventures! Praise the Lord for a safe journey and for lots of memories to cherish forever!

I'm sure each person has a different memory that stands out in his/her mind that will stick with them. I know when I was in way out in the jungle in Belize, I stopped, closed my eyes and tried my best to imprint the sound of the trillion bugs that were making so much noise. I will remember that forever.

When you think about how every kind word, action and deed that all of you are doing is helping to spread the gospel and bring the coming of the Lord that much sooner, how exciting!

It's such a small world. I was reading your blog with my brother-in-law looking over your shoulder and we figured out that he knows your dad! My sister and her husband, Dr. & Mrs. Eric Taylor, send greetings!

Hello

Just wanted you to know how much we appreciate you and Abi blogging daily for us. It is such a thrill to read a missionary story as it unfolds. Very good reading. You both are very expressive and it is nice to have all the details of daily life. Thank you. We are praying for your health and safety daily... anxious to see you when you get back.
Blessings,
Becky and all
