I went t o the best yard sale today!!! A friend called me on my cell phone and said, "THE yard sale is happening!" I was already in the car just a couple of blocks away. I knew exactly what she meant by THE Yard sale. We watch this one particular house because we know....
Everything was Eddie Baurer and J Jill. There were a few Land's End, and Gap. Just beautiful in brand new condition. Everything was $2 or 50 cents. I spent $37 but came home with hundreds of dollars worth of like brand new beautiful clothes. Vanessa really came home with an arm load since all the skirts and capris were size 4. I even picked up a couple things for a friend's daughter.
Last week I went to the Goodwill and the Salvation Army. I found really nice stuff there, too. I think we came home with 14 dresses ... all four of us are well clothed these days. Almost all the clothes were Nordstrom brand that time. Weird how some weeks there is nothing and other times there is tons.
It would just be plain stupid for me to go and buy new clothes in the store when I can buy such nice things at yard sales. Yes, it takes a bit more time but the "shopping" is part of the fun. Besides the styles in the store are plain disgusting right now. I have to sew when we really need something extra special.
I am in search of a dress right now. A special dress!! I already found one, but I need two. Two of my girls won a symphony competition and both are going to be featured soloist with the symphony Oct 12. They are expected to wear a formal. I found one that fits Vanessa and has sleeves and isn't low cut... etc... It's a pale pink. We got it at Goodwill . It's unbelieveably beautiful. I paid $20. BUT I need one for Brianna and she is so tiny I am afraid I will have to make it and it cost me more to make than to buy used.
We got the cherries done. My hands look gross, but oh well, the cherries will be good!
I just thought I would leave you a comment and tell you how much I have enjoyed visiting your blog this evening. Your girls are beautiful and so are you. =) You look so YOUNG.. lol You all look like you could be sisters. I think it is amazing you are going to Africa! Are the girls going with you? What an exciting journey that will be! Where are you from? I only ask because you are harvesting already.. I am still waiting on my gardens to mature. Well, visit my blog anytime.. I think I will add you to my friends. I hope that is ok.
God's Blessings to you, Jennifer

Congrats to your girls on the solos!!! How wonderful!!!! I do hope you find another beautiful special dress for your other daughter!
I enjoyed reading your blog today about how much name brand well made clothing you bought at a garage sale or goodwill. I love doing the same and have bought most of my hubby's nice polo shirts she wears to work, for 50 cents a piece. I also found some nice sweaters for winter for the same. And our little one (just turned two in April), has enough clothes for the two following summers and winters except for shoes and a winter coat! I have bought it all for a fraction of the price, and at this age, they grow out of things so quickly anyway!!
