Homestead Haven Beginnings

I'm back...AGAIN!!!

I haven't fallen off the face of the earth, I've taken a leap!!  Well, sort of...we are finally all settled into our new home and loving it.  The neighbors are wonderful, and the area suits our family perfect (until we move onto our "homestead" in the physical sense of the word!)  My DH blessed me with a digital camera for Christmas, so I will be able to share more pictures.  Isn't he the best!

My mama gave me this antique dest when she moved back to Michigan, and it has become one of my favorite pieces in the house.  In our other home, it was just crammed in and didn't get the attention it deserved!  Here we have a little more space to give it the proper "lime light!"

I shared a picture of this before, but with the new camera, the picture comes out much clearer!  Again a gift from my dear mama!  When she gave it to me, it was dark brown, and so I spruced it up with a bit of crackle finish painting!  It's amazing what paint can do to a piece of furnature!

We had a fantastic Christmas, although the flu decided to join us as a house guest for about a week!  We spent much of the time at home celebrating the Lord's birth as a family, and then after a few minor car troubles (I thank God I am married to a mechanic!) we joined my in-laws in San Francisco. 

Phil and I are on the far left...Phil is holding Isabelle.  Gabrille is on Papa's shoulders in the front, Abraham is on Uncle Chris' shoulders in the back, and Ezra in in the front on Auntie Shell's lap! 

 I just love Christmas, and it was a sad day when all the decor and nativity scenes started to disappear.  Oh well, I will just have to start getting ready for next Christmas!  It seems to go by more quickly every year!

Well, I hope you are all doing wonderful...I have missed you all and am glad to be back in blogging business once again!

I am so glad to see you have settled in. Maybe you will be here more often lol. Ok I love the desk, I have a love of antiques and the hutch is wonderful. You did a wonderful job with it.

Welcome back! Your furniture pieces (and new home) look beautiful. How long did it take to finish the hutch? I am thinking about painting our computer armoire, and I was wondering how many hours that would entail.

What a beautiful desk, it is similiar to my cabinet for my treadle sewer. Isn't it wonderful to have a family heirloom--lucky you:-)
