A Merry Heart

I have been reading Created To Be His Help Meet reciently, and I just keep going back to this chapter.  A merry heart.  I just love this word...Merry.  The more and more I am reading about this word, I want it in my life, I want to be this word!  "A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken" Proverbs 15:13.  Debi Pearl writes, "God's will is for a wife to have a merry heart, a cheerful countenance and a glow that will refresh the most stressed and tired husband on the planet.  Bubbling cheer goes a long way to maintain or even restore a marriage.  Make a decision right now to break the "poor me habit.  Today, put it down as sin and rebellion, and then tomorrow, wake up with joy in your heart and home.  Establish a new habit...What can I do today that will make him smile?"

The word merry means: pleasing; full of fun; lively and festive.  I am sure there is a line where it can become a bit too much, but what husband would be able to resist his wife that makes him laugh and laughs at him?  I know I am not winning Phil when I am pouting to get my way or am angry when he does something wrong.  I just push him a little more away.  I know I will get my point across much more effectivly by persuing a merry spirit!

What a good post. I tell my daughter that men are really quite uncomplicated and that after a hard day, a good meal and peaceful home are worth gold. My husband sometimes has to put up with moody women at work, so I try to be on an even keel when he comes home. I don't always succeed, but I will keep trying! I am not a naturally merry person, I don't think. I am silly and fun, on occasion, but it seems like there is a more innocent, sweet aspect to "merry".

I am going to work on that...first, a word study!

I need to work on this too. So many days Colin gets home to me complaining about my day, I know it would help him so much if I had a merry heart. Is that book good? I've almost ordered it a couple of times. It sounds like I might need to go ahead and get it!

Created to BE His Helpmeet is one of the best books I have ever read. Mrs. Pearl boldy speaks truth to us ladies, doesn't she? I am so glad that she doesn't sugarcoat the truth just to make it more palatable.
The part that spoke to me so much was about the different types of men. My husband is the faithful, Mr. Steady, and I have not appreciated that in him and have always tried to change him. I have been prideful and considered myself more spiritual than he is simply because I was at all the Bible studies and he wasn't. So the part of the book about thinking an incredible spiritual hunger is so wonderful really opened my eyes. I have learned to be content with studying things that pertain specifically to my role as a wife and mother, rather than pumping myself up with alot of Bible knowledge that I am not applying.
Anyhow, great book. I'm glad we are both reading/have read it. IT has blessed me bunches.
