How I feed my family with $200 a month Part 3--Menus
Okay, here is a menu starting last Monday (Jan.28-Feb.2) and following that is this week's menu (Feb.3-Feb.10).
Menu
Jan. 28-Feb.2
Monday: Haystacks (browned hamburger w/ taco seasoning; rice; shredded cheddar cheese; lettuce; tomato; sour cream.
Tuesday: Leftovers
Wednesday: Whopper Wednesday at Burger King for the girls & I. DH was out of town.
Thursday: Lasagna; Rustic Pear Tart
Friday: Summer sausage; cheese chunks; Ritz-style crackers; grapes; raw veggies (cauliflower, carrots, broccoli) and some leftovers from the neighbor lady....salad & pasta w/ alfredo sauce.
Saturday: Chipped beef gravy w/ mashed potatoes or toast; peas
Sunday: Beans & Weenies; Potato Salad; Bread Pudding w/ powdered sugar icing.
Things I used from my recent grocery shopping trip: 1/2 box lasagna noodles (Thur. meal); grapes (Fri. meal); and the sour cream (Mon. meal).
Menu
Feb.3-Feb.10
Monday: Salmon Patties; Breaded Cauliflower; leftover Bread Pudding.
Tuesday: *Crockpot Meal* Deer Roast w/ potatoes, onions, & carrots; banana bread
Wednesday: Toad in a Hole (from Hillbilly Housewife); eggs; mandarin orange slices.
Thursday: Mozzerella Pasta Bake (penne pasta w/ spaghetti sauce & mozz. cheese); garlic sticks (from Hillbilly Housewife).
Friday: Taco Salad w/ 1/2 pound ground turkey
Saturday: Chicken Dumplings w/ veggies (from Hillbilly Housewife); Blueberry Dessert.
Sunday: Cheeseburger Macaroni (using the rest of the ground turkey from Friday's meal); salad
So the only things that I used from last week's shopping trip were the Velvetta (Sun. meal); the ground turkey (Fri. & Sun. meals); taco seasoning & tortilla chips (Fri. meal); baby carrots (Tue. meal) and the eggs (Wed. meal).
These are only menus of our suppers. I don't make a menus that contain breakfasts & lunches. For breakfasts we have either pancakes, eggs, toast, cereal, or bagels w/ cream cheese.
For lunches we usually have leftovers from the night before or there is always lunch meat in the fridge to choose from or we might have ramen noodles, peanut butter & jelly sandwiches, or elbow macaroni w/ butter (DD#2's absolute favorite! Go figure!?).
So there you have it for the next week of suppers. I will post again after I go to the grocery store tomorrow. I don't really need much. That's good though because I don't know where I would put it!
Tune in again tomorrow for the continuing saga of
"How I feed my family with $200 a month".
