Gift Wrapping in our Home

Posted on Thursday, December 4, 2008 at 08:50 in Just Sharing

In our house all the gift wrapping belongs to the one who doesn't particularly like wrapping gifts....ME!

I just don't like doing it.  Probably b/c I ALWAYS get to.  I wrap all the gifts & then I bring them out of the wrapping center (our bathroom!) & give them to my girls to decorate.

One way we keep the children confused is in the wrapping itself.  I NEVER put name tags on the gifts!  I simply wrap each child's gifts in a different paper & I don't tell them who's paper is who's until Christmas day.  LOL!!  Like this year I wrapped all of one child's gifts in Santa Clause paper & then the other's gifts in snowman paper.  The gifts that are for both girls are wrapped in a solid color this year.  So when the girls are decorating the gifts with bows & ribbons they still don't know who's is who's.

So fun!

It's great to keep children confused!  Especially when they are 12 & 15!!

I love the idea of not writing tags and just using different papers. I can never find enough gift tags, and when I can they never match the paper, and it's such a pain writing them and sticking them on. The problem I would have with your system is that there are lots of different people and only a few gifts (in most cases one) each, so I'd need to have lots of different papers.

Best wishes,
Jo

Miki,
I am having troubles with your blog! Sometimes I can see it, sometimes I can't. Some posts I can comment, some I can't. I don't know why. Anyway, just wanted to let you know I am still reading when I can. I like the paper idea, but same as the previous poster, we only have one gift each! :)

As for Christmas lists, we abandoned them this year. My daughter kept asking me to write down everything she saw. At the store, from her videos, on the computer. It would be this toy and that game and this video, etc. I think it was enticing greed to enter her pretty little head. So we decided that they could each ask for ONE thing. They have to decide which one thing they want over everything else. I will get them 2 gifts each, and one "together" gift, but they can only ask for one (and will only be expecting one!) That's the joy, they will get what they ask for within reason, and something a little extra :-)
