Preserves with wax on top?

Does anyone know how this is done?

I remember my grandmother making & giving cute jelly/jam filled glasses sealed with wax on the top as gifts around the holidays. She would tie a dainty ribbon around each one. I was so little that I don't recall what kind of wax was used or how or when you do it. If anyone can help me I would like to start her tradition again. Thanks!

My mother used this one:

My Nana used the brown paper method which is different again.

My mother did that wax thing also, I don't use this method, I just fill the jar,put on the lid and turn it upside down, while the jelly is hot, then turn right side up after 10 min. Works every time for getting a good seal. maa's mom
