Our Halfway Homestead

• Sunday, June 17, 2007 - Training Our Daughters to Be Keepers at Home

I just discovered an amazing resource for moms raising daughters!  Check out Training Our Daughters to be Keepers At Home

This is a 7 year curriculum for our girls (and I would imagine some moms could learn quite a bit too! I know I will!).  I LOVE this idea!  It seems to cover any and everything about being a keeper of the home & all that goes with it.  It teaches just about all of the homemaking skills some of us remember our moms & grandmoms doing in our childhood.  The original curriculum in book format is about $75.  but, they now offer it n CD format for about $35!!!!  I had to grab it before they change their mind!  LOL Here is a synopsis from the website:

"Many of you are already familiar with Ann Ward through her wonderful Learning at Home series. This remarkable curriculum teaches our daughters not only Godly character, but also many of the almost "lost arts" of homemaking.

Each year there are several useful projects to be completed. Includes approximately 601 pages of valuable information your daughter needs to know - and what a joy for you both to work on this together! Uses several resource books such as Sue Gregg`s Eating Better cookbooks...  If your daughter is already in high-school-- [she can still benefit from] this book! ...

What it is -- a 7 year program with day-by-day lesson plans....  It is designed for girls 11 to 18, designed to be a blessing for both mom and daughter as information, skills and godly values are passed on from one generation to the next. There is emphasis on acquiring necessary skills and information to live simply and well on one income. Also has complete directions for approx. 19 projects. Courses include: Godly Womanhood, Sewing, Cooking, Caring For the Sick and Injured, Childbearing & Breastfeeding, Caring for Elderly & Comforting Those Who Mourn, Making a House a Home, Family Celebrations, Gardening, Family Finances, Home Management, Braiding Rugs, Making Greeting Cards, Hospitality, Child Development, Child Training, Flower Arranging, Knitting, Crocheting, Embroidery, Cross-Stitch, Basketry, Home Business, Soapmaking & Candlemaking, and Raising Animals! Based on 7 year`s use it is less than 28 cents a week. Another bonus... when your daughter finishes this course, she will have many items she has made to begin her adult life! Almost a dream come true and of course highly recommended!"

I'll post my thoughts as soon as I get it in the mail and I'm able to review!  I can't wait!

My daughter and I have this book and keep trying to go through it. Seems like its always something! Anyway, I love it and the information therein. Glad you could get a copy so cheaply!
