Our Halfway Homestead

A quick rundown of what has been happening:

BABY #2

I am now 7 months pregnant, with baby boy due on April 21st.  My first six months of pregnancy are partially to blame for my absence from my blog.  I suffered horrible morning/noon/night sickness, which had me practically bed ridden for the entire time. I couldn't smell anything, couldn't breath, anything would trigger my loss of my last meal! It was terrible.  It is so nice to be over that, and once again my home smells like my favorite Creme Brulee scented candles!

The best scented candle in the WORLD!!  hehe

It finally started getting better round about the beginning of the 6th month. I can't wait for him to get here (and somehow a have this great desire to have my body back this time! Could be because my stomach is SO huge!) Two weeks early would be great!  I am SO much more exhausted then I was with my first.  It is amazing how 5 years can change a person.  I'm just glad that this is it for me, and that our little family will feel complete.

HOMESTEADING

Sad news!  We had to get rid of our chickens.  They served us well while we had them ~ the tastiest eggs in the most beautiful hue's of browns, speckled, pinks and greens! It was a true pleasure and a great learning experience!  When we move to our little farm, that's one that we'll have under our belts and we plan on having a nice huge flock.

HOMESCHOOLING

Well, like I said, being sick for nearly 6 months put a damper on everything~including school.  Luckily we started early and homeschooling provides me with the flexibilty our family needed through this. We did a fundraiser to help with our homeschooling costs and were able to get everything we needed ~ All curriculum materials, her violin and her violin book.

I don't know that I ever posted our school room here, but here is where is all happens:

So we have begun again to school and Myah has been really enjoying it.  We are using a combination of Abeka (for Math, Phonics, reading & writing), Sonlight reading and read-a-louds and The Violin Book by Ebaru Publishing.

PINKY and the BANE

I'm sure some of you are wondering how Pinky and Bane are doing.

Pinky currently resides with my mom and dad (who said they would never have a pet).  We went to Texas for about 2 weeks and Pinky stayed with my folks.  When we returned, we just couldn't take her away from them.  She is the little piece of joy in their quiet house.  She has her own spot on the couch and she calls it home. So, it worked out, because during that time I was so sick anyway, I had a hard time, and hubby had a hard enough time taking care of his dog (Bane) and a very sick ME.. :-)

Bane is fine...

a not so current pic.

a more current pic.
He is a whopping 80 pounds now at 10 months.. and a total nuisance...

Here he is NOT leaving me alone!

more updates to come... momma's getting tired :-)  ~ not to mention, the wonderful aroma of freshly roasted peanuts coming from the oven!

I am so glad to see you posting again. Why did you get rid of the chickens?

Posted by ngabriel
Trixi, we live in a subdivision, and went away for 2 weeks. We asked our dear neightbor to open and close the coop for us each night. We THINK he did it on a few nights, but it seems he may have had to leave in a hurry or something, because when we got back, the coop was closed and had been for a few days. Which means the chickens were all over the neighborhood foraging, probably in neighbors yards, etc. needless to say we had a note from animal control on our door :-(.. so once we get a good fence, we will definitely be doing it again!
